This is the build I have been running with the 4P...so far it is my favorite hunchback... I like the convergence of the hunch lasers, and for some reason, nobody seems to primary me the second I poke my head around a corner...unlike in the 4G. In that thing, the second the enemy is aware of your presence, you are the primary target for all 8 mechs and all of their guns... But I digress... Weapon groups are as follows: 1 - Chain fire arm MPLs 2 - Chain fire hunch MLs 3 - Last 3 ML's in previous hunch chain fire que (I find that I can make 3 "ranging/aiming" shots, then follow up with a more powerful strike) 4 - Link fire ALL HUNCH ML's (I use the 'e' button on the keyboard... right next to your WASD and not already assigned to anything) (use sparingly for greatest effect) Yes, I do overheat every now and then, but not nearly as often as I first thought... usually when I have someone dead to rights and can't resist the e button, being right there and ready to press to cause hurt to anyone within 300 meters. In general, I overheat only when I get carried away, just like any other mech, and I am about to unlock all Elite skills, which will 2x the heat basic skills and enhance my heat management. TBH, I find light hunting/harassing/chasing away from my Atlas friends to be a very satisfying role for this Mech. Also, it melts the armor of just about anything else so your lance mates can move in for the kill. The main problem I have with this mech as opposed to my AC/20 brawlers is a lack of actual kills. I end matches where I have 8 kill assists, TONS of damage, and no kills, as others get the glory while my lasers are still melting away armor. But, I thoroughly enjoy winning, so that more than makes up for it. Most fun I've had in a hunchie so far... I wish I liked the 4G as much as this bad boy.
I find it a disgrace that you did not put a ML from your hunch in the head. That said, it is easily fixed. 4-5
This is the same thing I did to get around the MLas heat tax. I'm not thrilled with my performance in it, I still have a lot of tooling around to do.
I absolutely HATE the head laser. 3/4 of the time, I forget it is there, and its convergence just seems completely off to me...when I do remember to shoot it, I usually miss, or because it is slightly to the left of the head, it shoots into the cover that I am sneaking around to reveal my hunch for an alpha strike...so I omit it and use the tonnage for a heat sink and to maintain my sanity... I only have it in my -4G, and I am seriously considering ditching it for something else, even if I can zombie with it...
Wow, i like the idea of no Ghostheat very much! I would downgrade the Engine to the STD250 just to load a TAG-Laser on the Head for some Assistance Points! Well done! Gonna test it and report back.
