Well, looking at the maths from yesterday, a dual Gauss hit on a fully armoured cockpit has a 17% chance to crit for enough damage to kill the component (14% chance of a "double crit" + 3% chance of a "triple crit"; damage would be 33.6/34.5 or 35.4/36.75 - I'm still not sure whether the 12 damage that goes through the armour is multiplied or the full 15 of the base damage, probably the former but who knows). Drop 2 points of armour (something I do fairly regularly) and that chance jumps to 42% (25% chance single crit +14% double +3% triple; crit damage is 31.8 minimum). What a difference 2 points of armour makes...
