This build is flowing around in my unit after I developed it when the LPLas got it's recent buff heat and range wise. Feedback was very good until now, so I thought it was time to release this into the public.

The punch the triple LPL arm provides is simply brutal. The mech is fast for an assault mech - not fast in comparison to VTRs, though - but very fast when compared to other HGNs or even AS7s.

You have to get used to the reworked Gauss Rifle, which requires some practice, but it's still a very good weapon. Double AC5s are possible instead of it, but your cooling will be much worse. Triple LPL from a fully actuated arm don't need much of an explanation. Alternate between group and chain fire and you should be fine. Even only chain firing them is pretty brutal as well, but that ~32 punch when grouped is fantastic.

    Weapon groups:
    (1) Gauss Rifle
    (2) LPLas x3 (grouped)
    (3) LPLas x3 (chain fire)

Not quite as wacky as most of my other builds on the site, but I'm having a lot of fun with this.

Those of you who know me will know that I don't usually care for assault mechs. I find them too cumbersome, and would rather make a glass cannon medium that I can keep alive through maneuvering. This baby is my exception, and It's probably because the Heavy Metal is one of the most Maneuverable assault mechs in the game next to the victor. I can run, jump, and weave, just like I can in my Nova, and that's why I love it.

I originally decided to build a Heavy Metal because I found a weapon system I liked on my Mauler (Gauss and triple LPL), but I felt like there was probably a mech out there better suited to the build. After doing some research on Smurfy it turns out that the highlander was the right fit, and I love this thing to death. The XL325 combined with two lower arm actuators makes TITUS an excellent twitch shot for an Assault mech, and those jump jets combined with your fair speed make it easy to get around the battlefield (something crucial to me as a medium mech jock)

Like it, or don't, it's a solid build by my account. Tested in a top tier group queue environment.
"How do you know you're top tier Shayu, isn't that kindof arrogant to assume?"
I dropped into a match with HeimDelight, it isn't really an assumption : p

I understand how the titles work, it's not my first post. This was quick write up, I'm sorry.
Care to leave a comment on the build?

Well, the firepower is excellent along with heat management. My only issue is the XL, the Highlanders as a whole are sluggish so I see why you want a 325 though I wouldn't. Too easy to get killed, IMHO. If it works for you, sweet. :)

I shared that concern at first, but I've had fantastic success rolling damage, even against higher tier players. Usually if I lose a ST, my CT was already orange or red. I find the build lets me skirmish like a medium mech, while maintaining the armor of an assault mech; I typically don't even have my armor breached unless my team collapses.

This loadout has been around in this forums since February 2014.

Look for my 'Elephant Hunter' build which only differs in the size of the XL (330 vs. 325) and the amount of JJs (2 vs. 4), but beats this one regarding heat efficiency as well as the amount of Gauss ammo. The latter matters a lot if you're in a prolonged fight, especially on one of the hot maps? By the way, why are you loading 25 shots only for a 15t weapon?

I'd say the difference in builds are marginal, therefore the merge of threads.

    I saw your build.

I run 25 shots because I don't typically use more than that, I've recently bumped it up to thirty just in case, but I wouldn't push it past that. To me, the weight of a weapon is irrelevant outside of the mechlab, and the way i see it the Gauss is the backup weapon, it needs enough ammo to stay operational through the majority of the fight and that's it. I also find the two extra jumpjets to be a large difference and I would take them over the boost in engine size and cooling any day. Effective climbing adds a whole 'nother dimension to the mech, worth the ammo and DHS IMO.
