Video most likely to come soon I will be working on some more builds using different engines - but for now these are some quick fix mods for people that want to get the highlander and can't afford a new engine.
That's a totally different build, though. This is just meant to sit far away, behind a building/ridge and jump snipe. It looks fine. It's a shit meta, but the build's fine for abusing the shittiness of the meta.
I like this better than the 4xPPC sniper build. Personally, I'd be more likely to put in a bigger XL engine and get more heat sinks. If the side torso with the weapons equipped gets blown off, you're pretty much toast anyway. If the other side gets blown off...well, then you got beat by people who don't know how to target your weapons.
OP : why did you take an std engine ? If you lose you RT, you have no weapon left anyway. Personnaly I will go for this one :
Agreed 100% Annoys me the meta is currently about poopshitting and shitsniping but I gain nothing but fustration by proudly trying to brawl and avoid buying a highlander (that I love in btech and previous titles). If you can't beat them, crush them at their own game and show the [PGI] players on other teams the current metagame poo with jump sniping "skills".
I use a similar build in our 8 man drop decks Std engine but with normal PPC's. Weapon groups 1. Gauss 3 PPC Alpha for long range shots or jump sniping into cover plenty of time for cool down. 2. Gauss 2 PPC No heat penalty for when you are pushed by brawlers or on very hot planets e.g. Terra Therma. 3. Gauss For when you are pushing the overheat limit and really need to get some fire power down. I will post a smurfy build when I get home from work. This has basically replaced my Stalker 4 PPC build and works well with the Cataphract 3D in a jump sniper config. The heat penalty for 3 PPC's is easily managed using the above groups without having to worry about timings and ensuring the maximum alpha possible on a single location. While ERPPC's are useful for pug drops if you are in a group then I prefer standard PPC's for the increased sustained DPS. If the increase in PPC heat happens next week then it will have to be re-evaluated though +1 heat across 3 PPC's is not enough imo to stop this build being completely viable.
This build is really no longer viable for pinpoint high alpha sniping due to the stacking penalty on PPC+ERPPC
I disagree. My unit has been doing testing for 3 normal PPCs and find the heat penalty totally manageable using the weapon groups described in my post above. This config of HGN plus 3Ds seems to be working well for us.
I agree with Athariel. The key is using standard PPCs though. Using ERPPCs and the heat penalty would be an issue. Standard PPC's don't generate enough heat to be an issue, the problem is the slower speed and minimum range though. If you have good shots and good focus fire that isn't an issue as much.
Right, but THIS build isn't really viable Those 3x ERPPC rocket your heat bigtime! Changing ERPPCs to PPCs changes the way the mech is played and, while it doesn't look like it, is a completely different build. Removing the ERs removes your face hugger brawl ability and, while it does increase your heat efficiency, changes the play-style of the build dramatically. That is how I see it anyways
