Highest damage score in MwO (screenshots req)?

    So, quite simply, let's check the scale. What is the top damage score we have on record? I'm curious because that sets a roof that may change over time, it also affects how we measure effectiveness on a build if we know the realistic max damage potential (in current gameplay).

    So, without further ado, here's the max (1403 pts) I've seen by a player called Saagri in a Victor:

    Honorable mention: 1774 pts of damage during LRMageddon is respectable but not reproducable any longer and this will not be held as max currently possible. Still, very respectable!

    I have come to a conclusion of scale, useable as a measurement when building and considering how well a build is performing (speaking in very general terms).

    It amuses me that 2 of the 3 screenshots posted thus far have been defeats. Obviously 1000+ damage is great and imho anything 1200+ is very impressive. But we had a thread a while back asking if Damage or Kills was more important and judging from these screenshots it would seem kills trumps even the most impressive damage scores.

    And holy mother of fuck, Michael. What the hell build was that guy using to get 1554 in a Raven? Does he remember any details on that match? Was the enemy just ignoring him while he picked off their limbs one at a time or what? 5 kills 1554 damage... just retire, call yourself the greatest Raven pilot of all time, and troll the forum for years.

    I find these to be not as meaningful any more with the increased damage of art/air strikes. I guess just the top number may be interesting to see what could happen, but I find hundreds of points of dmg in one or two mouse click(s)... bleh.

    He was running a 2x ERLLas, ECM + arty and airstrike.

    Yes he gave full details on the match. That is one of those 1 in a million pug matches where everything lines up perfectly.

    Hm, yeah, the arty/air makes it less interesting given it's so random. My gut feeling is;

    1300-1500 is probably assisted by air/arty
    1100-1300 is close to max by mech weaponry alone*
    800-1100 is exceptional rounds
    500-800 is generally good rounds
    300-500 is acceptable

    Generally speaking, I agree, though it also goes slides up or down depending on the mech. My BJ-1, for instance, caps out just north of 850dmg which is limited by both AC20 ammo and getting the armor worn down. Breaking 1k damage without an arty strike is difficult because you have to be close to do your damage and at some point those hits against you will take their toll. For that particular build I'd equate an 800-900 damage game to be worth a 1100-1300dmg game for an Ilya or Highlander, etc.

    Another example would be a Spider with 1 ERLL and some machine guns putting out 800dmg is more like 1500 in something else, because goddamn that is a lot of work.

    I suppose a damage/performance scale is more about the baseline mech and build and then using a sliding scale multiplier.

    From the old days. I don't get over 1000 as much any more. I don't use Arty or Air Strikes as they annoy me and get in the way of my mech stomping action. Seem to much like an easy mode to me.

    I've personally had six 1000 point games to this date and 5 of them have been losses (3 by cap, 2 where we were all taken down). I believe I died in all but one of them. I still prefer damage to kills because damage is less susceptible to luck. I always shoot to kill or disarm though. Padding damage numbers is not my style.

    I usually say that impressively high damage comes at two of these three conditions:
    - your team is bad
    - the opponent team is bad
    - you're a lucky strike whore

    Most of my 1000+ game are from defeats too, from games were my team disappeared and I had to do all the job myself, and where the enemy team wasn't able to shoot me down as quickly as they should have.

    I so love those matches where I pull close to 1000 and the rest of my team scores in the sub 200 range and we lose... this is when I curse the matchmaker.

    Lurmageddon LOL I remember! The scoring was so totally screwed up back then. Remember LRM Awesomes that could sit back and do 1500+ points of damage? ALL DAY LONG?!?!? Gumpy did that about a week ago in his Raven so it is TODAYS "OP" versus "Waaaaaaaaay back when I had to walk uphill both ways" kinda matches.

    Nothing to claim any of those top spots already mentioned, but I did score my best (a "cool" 1200 even) in my AWS-8Q (all energy-based) on Terra Therma of all places! I'll try to post the screenshot when I get home.

    Props ;) I cheated on my therma 1000 damage game. Got it in my double-gauss 3D.

    Maps for my other 1000 damage games: river night, crimson strait, caustic valley, forest valley x2

    Very true. I'm nothing spectacular. In my handful of 1000+ rounds, it really seemed to be because the rest of my team wasn't pulling too much.

    In our UMAD drops, we all usually pull around 400-600 damage spread fairly evenly through out us with a few of the top players going over 600. If a team is coordinated and decently skilled, the numbers usually look pretty representative to their weight class.

    Yeah, I should've qualified my previous statement. Lately, those 3L pilots have been topping the charts!!! MOST OF US will be in the 400-600 damage range then the Squawkers come in and end the world! :rofl:
