Obviously to get data and entice players to play but hey, I'm game - Going for highest level. Papa needs some more modules anyways! Plus it's bloody good fun...
In my first solo match we lost badly and I scored like 200+ match game so it is going to be very easy. But something it's not clear, I picked the shield icon (defend) and I had to break gates and basically attack, what's up with that? PS : my FPS makes it almost unplayable on CW guess I'll have to LRM a lot.
Seems like it depends on the current status of the planet, if get to defend or counterattack as a defensive action...must be some kind of balancing scheme to even out the imbalance risks of the mode. IE, you have to play both sides for balance purposes.
+1 to that. Those gates are MADE for camping My sniper mechs have been having a field day, when I can actually find a match...
Just did a round with PUGs against the 228th. I am currently looking for ways to stitch up my backside as no lube was used. They coordinated with TS3 and ripped us to shreds by more than double... I think it was 14 to 44 by the time it ran out. Somewhere around there. Point being, PGI, that PUGs against 12 mans? That shit ain't happening and is a waste of everyone's time. If your game isn't big enough, player wise, to support splitting the queues then perhaps you have bigger issues but if not then I strongly urge you to consider it cause eventually you will lose players when they realize they are forced to TS3 just to stand a chance. Just my 2 cbills.
This is pretty much why serious built in VOIP will be critical. PuGs will still be PuGs, but if they can talk to each other better it won't be...well, as crappy, anyway.
I endured five tonight (more yesterday), three was good and two were just mindboggling. Trying to get PUGs to realise we are counter-attacking, that we need to push into the base, past the gates and kill the artillery or we won't win was a exercise in aggrevation. Literally had to take a break from CW drops after that. It was impossible to get the PUG's to go in, even when led by a quad of assaults willing to tank damage for them. May try for tier 2 of challenge but likely not tier 3. Mind you, had two failed drops without oppponents and so many tries to get into a game at all it's tiresome. So we tried to swap over to public gaming only to find there's bugs a plenty. Failed drops, mechs unavailable, a mysteriously lit rejoin button cause apparently our mechs were assigned to a game! Disconnects from game launches etc. So overall, not a stable experience at the moment. But I do like what I saw in the CW, if we can iron things out a bit. Quite a bit.
Do different mechs give different bonuses? Someone was saying that the Phoenix Mechs with a Faction Medallion give more Faction XP? I did a second one. Both times it was me and a PUG group against a 12 man; first 228th and then CW. Both times it was a slaughter. I think I am done until PGI separates the queues as getting slaughtered is not what I consider a equitable return on investment.
Yeah there are a few LP bonuses - the faction medallions give 2.5%, the Pheonix mechs (not sure if just the P one or all the Pheonix pack) give 10% and Premium time gives 10%.
What bugs me is my Steiner Medallion doesn't show as hanging so I have zero idea if it is actually accumulating me points. I guess I will need to plan a drop deck around P mechs. So far all I have done is lost as I have been mixed bag pugging it and only ever run up against 12 mans so the pay is 100k and the LP is like 400 or so. Not worth the 15-20 minute wait times.
Yeah, I probably won't be able to finish this challenge. I was able to drop 3 times tonight in pugs. The first two matches had no defending force, so that sucked waiting 15 minutes each time to kill a couple turrets and get a massive 12 points and 65 LP. The third was an epic battle that went full time, and there was only one person who didn't get the 80 required match-points.
