This is my Harlequin build (based on the Batman "Harley Quinn" fighting style) I must be an oddball, but I like to use everything available in a mech. (Using all Critical spaces, AMS, JJ's, etc.). Here I've maxed out to the XL355, went to the ERLLAS for the reach on maps like Alpine, use both AMS instead of one (this does make a big difference in the amount of missiles that make it through), and cool it all off with 20 DHS. The compliment of 2xERLLAS, 2xMLAS and 2xSLAS keeps everything cool and manageable and actually works for my play style. I use the following modules: Advanced Zoom, Advanced Sensors, and Advanced Seismic Sensors. (Situational awareness is a must with the Jester!) My weapon groupings are as follows: Group 1: 2xERLAS's (chain fire) Group 2: 2xMLAS (chain fire) Group 3: 2xSLAS (chain fire) Group 4: 2xMLAS and 2xSLAS (group fire - mini alpha) Group 5: 1xERLLAS (left arm) Group 6: 1xERLLAS (right arm) This grouping setup lets me use my ERLLAS's in a sniping mode around terrain/objects, and instead of an alpha strike - I can use group 4 for a mini alpha and then I can either pinpoint the ERLLAS's with follow up shots - OR I can also use the ERLLAS's to target/fend-off other bogeys. Also, I prefer the ERLLAS's for those longer shots when a LLAS just won't do. I'll generally hang around the Heavy's at the front line, picking my shots and helping exploit any holes that may develop; all the while moving to the flanks if the fighting gets hot there. Once it is determined where the main resistance from the enemy is, I go into havoc mode. I don't mind being the first through and wreaking as much pain as possible - all the while causing the enemy to turn their attention to me and alleviate any focused fire on the choke-point/ridge-lines. This is where it gets tricky.......you have to keep moving. Twist, move max speed, jump constantly, hit as many targets as possible to get their attention, (I call this "dancing"). Once you have done this, and the group you are with breaks through to add to the mayhem - then I work my way out of the brawl to safer areas and then come back to help out. If you're running PUG's, this doesn't always work well. If you break the line and try to focus on only one mech, then you are defeating the purpose of the technique. Seriously, I think the Jester is the absolute best "Guerilla" mech in the game for this tactic. I don't normally have the highest damage output on a team, but 500 point games are about average with 2+ Kills and multiple assists. It's all about the "dancing".
Just equip XL350 and put 8 armor in each front ST and leg, or swap SLs for MLs. Looks like a solid upgrade from the stock loadout, nothing special except that it's almost like a larger medium with more armor at that speed and loadout.
Actually I'm a speed junkie and have only been legged twice and Side-Torsoed once in all the games I've been running. There's definitely an argument for the XL350 - putting the armor in the ST/Leg, but I think that just depends on the personal preference of the player. I've played around with 4xMLAS instead of the 2xMLAS & 2xSLAS, and I liked it also - just had to pay attention to heat a bit more.
