So yeah. I used to run a JM6-DD with the 2x AC10+4x MG combo which was pretty fun and effective, but it had to run XL and Medium lasers and died a bit quickly. Not this one. And it has some SRMs for extra kick. 10+ sustained DPS. Enough ammo for ~2360 damage. 60 shots per AC10, 33 SRM salvos, plenty of MG fire to finish open components. Should be possible to spend it all in a match. Energy weapons are for wusses that are worried about ammo and too hot. This way the tonnage and space can be put into ammo instead of heatsinks.
My big worry with this would be that your alpha is awfully low for an assault mech. You can fire forever but it's going to take you forever to do a decent amount of damage. And a good chunk of that theoretical DPS is coming from MGs.
It has a 46 pt alpha. The MGs don't skew this statistic Quad UAC5 has 40 (supposing double shot), as does Dual AC20. Of course SRMs would increase those alpha's but Quad UAC5 doesnt have the tonnage for that with a decent engine and AC20s would get too hot, meaning that the rest of your efforts are spent on DHS. I found AC10s to be a nice mid-range weapon, though most mechs are either close-range or long range and it's therefore often at that weird point where it doesn't have the burst of the AC20 close range, nor the range of the AC5s long range. That means that it's not on a lot of builds, while still putting out very nice DPS. The power of 4x MG against open components should also not be underestimated in DPS, and open components will be quite possible with the loadout, though the burst might be lower than general. That's my theory at least, built on theorycrafting and experience with AC10+MG combo's in an XL jagermech, which would still often get 700~ damage matches.
