Objective I wanted to build a Misery-esque build for my Crab but using Ultra ACs instead of an AC20 so the range would synch with the PPCs. The result has great DPS and range! Pros: Great DPS up to 1000m which IMHO is all the range you will ever need Right sided so you can peek round corners, and shield with the Left The 3 PPCs can hill peep nicely the 3 PPCs and 2 Ultra AC5 have similar projectile velocity allowing you to track targets at range as you fire the weapons together 3 Streak SRM2s are scary enough to stop Light Mechs from finding you an easy target Uses the default 300 Std engine Tough to put down if you shield properly Cons Slow clomp clomp clomp Damage tends to spread out and its hard to focus on components PPCs are Hot! Modules Zoom or Radar Deprivation PPC Cooldown! Gameplay You tend to stomp around with the pack, having enough range to engage enemies despite your slow speed, cautiously creeping round corners or over hills to unload destruction until your heat builds up, then pull back and cool off. You need to chain fire the PPCs most of the time as they get sooo hot, but i do have a weapon group set up to fire all the PPCs and UAC5s in one go for anyone foolish enough to stand still when i have minimal heat. When the brawl begins and your heat starts rising lay off the PPCs and fire the dual UAC5s and the SSRM2s until you can pull back and cool down. Dont forget to shield with your left side when taking too much fire. Elite Mastery Builds: I used these to complete my mastery along with this build KGC-000 LRM Ripper <LRM40 ,2* LL , 6*MG> and KGC-0000 Pin Puncher <AC20, 3 LPL, SRM12> My handle is Renegademaster88 for MWO if you would like to say hi!
Seems a bit overheated...even if you ignore the heat from the SSRMs, it's still 29% pre-basic (33% double basic). Add in the PPC cooldown being 10% faster before modules and you have quite the heat magnet. Got 45 alphas on the UACs (which seems like less than ideal for an assault), but only 16 shots on the SSRMs if something gets close. IMO, drop a PPC and raise the engine up a bit bigger, and throw some ammo in to fill the gaps. No ghost heat, more ammo to play with, and a bit better heat management overall. Alpha goes down (but you don't want to alpha anyway), but DPS likely goes up.
To be honest i only really use the SRMs occasionally but you might be right 2 PPCs may do the trick and allow for more heat sinks. Something to try tomorrow!
Unfortunately it doesn't trade for straight up heat sinks (too many crit slots taken), but you can sub in the engine easily
