Alright so I was reading the sarna page on the King Crab and there's this really cool tabletop mech called KGC-010, which was a star league era prototype that had some awesome sounding new weaponry, but ultimately left with kerensky. It had two ppc's surrounded by srm's, with two lbx-10's to back it.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/King_Crab Ya gotta scroll a bit but there ya go

I thought that would be cool, and people on the forums did too, so I thought hey, let's update it.

    The first build:

This is the 'as advertised' build. Nothing special, should be an okay brawler, but don't feel scared to poke beyond the brawling lines. The lbx's have a generous optimal and with the twenty points of damage from the snubby's you can afford to shoot beyond optimal. The srms just blow up so...

    The original:

This build was a mock-up someone else made of what was originally described in the sarna page, but I switched the heatsinks to double because I'm not a total barbarian. It's hot, but has a lot more range and is really nice overall, and I highly recommend it. More ranged, more survivable (although not maxed on armor so be careful) and somehow hotter (snubby has more heat but this build lacks two heatsinks)

And the third build, my favorite:

The combination of the two, with strengths of both. You can choose as you wish

You probably don't know it, but Endo Steel upgrade occupies the same amount of slots compared to Ferro Fibrous, but Endo Steel will free up way more tonnage compared to Ferro Fibrous.

For example, on the very first build you can turn of the Light Ferro Fibrous (which occupies 7 slots) and then upgrade to a LE325 with +1 DHS in the engine...

When building a mech (unless you are trying to create a budget build), always check your upgrades: the general rule of thumb is Endo Steel first, Ferro Fibrous or light ferro fibrous should be fitted/upgraded later if you have slots to spare (mostly not the case on assault mechs).

In case you are wondering how it works or the actual numbers:
    • Endo Steel: occupies 14 slots, saves 5% of chassis weight (5 ton saved on 100 ton mech)
    • Ferro Fibrous: occupies 14 slots, 1 ton worth of armor will grant ~36 armor (HP) instead of 32 (~2 tons saved with max armor on 100 ton mech).
    • Light Ferro Fibrous: occupies 7 slots, 1 ton worth of armor will grant ~34 armor (HP) instead of 32 (~1 ton saved with max armor on 100 ton mech).
