Agreed but you will still be able to double click them for a much faster rate of fire when needed so I will hold on my judgement until I have had a chance to test it. It does seem kind of silly now though to carry 3 UACs on some mechs that originally could carry 4 AC5s ala the 4X. I think a better balance solution to the UAC would be to drastically increase its heat to double that an AC5 while keeping its faster fire rate. As its balanced now UACs are probably going to go the way of the Dodo bird and no one wants to see an unused weapon. In other words you want those UACs? Sure here you go but you better figure out a way to throw on some heatsinks. To be honest I am most excited about the Flame thrower (sorry just weird saying Flamer) It might finally be a viable weapon again instead of a troll. Roughly the same damage and range as a machine gun with the added benefit of heating up the competition? Gimme some of that. AC2s have had their heat reduced immensely so THAT is going to be interesting. I may just have to try out the 6 AC2 build now.
I thought UACs were awesome before they got buffed. Go ahead and stop using UACs. I will continue to obliterate mechs with it. Always has been a great weapon with an interesting quirk that adds dynamic gameplay and breaks the monotony. I always wondered why people never really liked the UAC. IMO its one of the few weapons with actual character.
I for one am happy with the UAC5 changes. Previously there was no reason to run an AC5 unless you were really hurting for tonnage. Now they are relatively balanced. UACs can pump out the damage but risk jamming elseways they function just like AC5s. They are truly a roll of the dice now instead of better AC5s
I'm not impressed. and I Just Don't Care. SORRY MWO, I don't care that you fixed a few bugs and weapons. Your tutorial is CRAP; you shoot a mech in the junk, it hits the CT; you have no CW; you have no DX11; you have no new map for launch; you have no regional servers; you have yet to impress me on ANY graphical level with CRY-SIS engine; much of your community agrees you should have stayed in beta; the only saving grace you have MWO is the community RIGHT HERE. I'll be back on friday in game, but until then, I will watch the review sites and wait for the best score I can find, and post it here.
I'm still pretty new to the game, and so I'm still easily excited by most any update/change/sale etc, but this even I find pretty underwhelming for a launch day update. Where's the pyrotechnics and rock music? Scantily clad people of whichever sex one might be attracted to gyrating on the stage?
Lol, wait what? CW doesn't even hit til next year? Why am I even playing this. What the fuck just launched. These people suck ass at making video games. They suck dick at it. I'm sorry. It's not a big deal. But I think GTA5 was a lot of fun to play last night. Rome2 is sitting on the table. Lots of yearly sports titles just came out. I think I'll find something more interesting to do besides guinea pig ideas for them while they treat us like shit (literally). W/e.
I'm underwhelmed by this patch too. I think the UAC changes are, much like the ERPPC changes last patch, complete overkill. I don't think it's the end of the world (still), but I think the changes make it a comparatively useless weapon. It needs .75x - .5x the cooldown of the AC5, and 1.75x - 2x the heat of the AC5, and that would be a solid balance point. I'm still going to play tonight and have a good time. Because I'm hopelessly addicted to giant stompy internet robot explosions.
A meat space party for an online game launch is a nice bonus, but come on... A launch day cockpit hologram available? New launch day maps? Something?
Sadly, even I am underwhelmed by this. While I realize not all the features to the game are ready to go I am surprised and saddened that loyalty to the game, throughout the last two years, has gone virtually unnoticed. As a strong supporter of both the developer team and the game I do feel that a little gratuity might have been in order; something other than playing 24 matches in 2 weeks (which is only implemented to inflate numbers post launch).
Okay, the UAC5 nerf is crazy. I have no issue with them changing the cooldown to match the AC5, since it still has the ability to double-tap, but increasing the jam chance made it a worse weapon in every way than just using an AC5. Assuming you double tap every shot, your effective cooldown is 1.6 seconds (1.5sec/2*80% + 5sec*20% = 1.6). So it's hotter, slower, heavier, and holds less ammo than an AC5. If they had left the jam chance at 15%, then the effective cooldown would have been 1.39 Sec, which is a small boost over the AC5. Before the nerf, the effective cooldown was 1.22 Sec.
