Apparently their Matchmaker fix also didn't work...just left a match where the other team had multiple Assaults including 2 atlas and we got zero...bupkis...nada. Needless to say they just strolled right through us. But at least I got to wait 2 minutes for the privilege while it found a match...
Good math. This breaks my heart. UAC5 was my favorite weapon platform & I was fine with the earlier 25% jam. Now though, it's worthless. At least with the ppc vs erppc, the case could be made that the heat might be worth it since it can do dmg < 90m and full through 810m. Worst day ever.
[quote author=Soy link=topic=3586.msg21799#msg21799 date=1379233638]The current ballistic macro spam meta going around is the worst meta seen in MWO by far. By far. Much more damaging to the maturation (aka collective learning process) of the community at large. In fact, it takes huge shits on it. Sad, really. But w/e, yeah shit'll change. [glow=red,2,300]It should be 20% jam[/glow], if not that, then made unmacroable [mechanic change]. [/quote] GG close another successful prognostication. PGI stop reading my posts or hire me, one or the other. ps - if ppl still wanna dakka derp, do a victor with 3 ac/2s and ll/ppc
Never recommend nerfs because it WILL be your weapon of choice some day. They have, at a stroke, made the UAC 5 go the same way as the Flamer and isn't that wrong? We don't want to see weapons systems taken away because it takes away CHOICE. Right now as is, there is no reason to use the UAC when they have the AC alternative so not many will...that effectively is the same as taking the choice away from us. Make it the same reload as the AC5 certainly that makes sense. Give it a 20% jam chance that ALSO makes sense because both of those would be trade offs and would still give you a reason to use the UAC but doing them together is the same heavy handed approach that turns people away from games. One or the other would have been a viable alternative but I think now they are going to see the UAC usage drop below virtually every other weapon besides maybe flamers and small pulse lasers because who will find the ability to double tap for a second before it jams a viable alternative to the AC-5 which, weighs less, has more ammo and NEVER jams with the same reload.
I was rather underwhelmed as well. Then again, until they get UI 2.0 in, which will not reload the entire mechbay after every game (forcing me and team to wait a minute for my mechs), I'm not likely to be impressed by much.
Watching the launch trailer that Blagg posted... what the actual fuck is going on: Caustic Valley with 40+ mechs suicide rushing each other
This. why can't they run maths in such a way ? What's so hard ? Really. It was not balanced before, but it's not balanced either now.
I am underwhelmed - somehow I would have expected a bit more of an "Oomph" for the launching patch. A new map - possibly even one that doesn't include molten lava, a game lobby, something profound. It's launch after all. There will never be another launch, just more patches/nerfs.
I think every player is feeling the same. It's like having a Wedding without Wedding Party. Completely shocking. PGI promised too much without care and prepared too little for the Launch. At least they did a Launch Trailer - suggesting that we'll maybe get some bigger matches (16 v 16, 20 v 20, 24 v 24, etc) in the far future! Kaaaboooya! Tip: If you want epic "original" PGI/MWO Music during Matches, just download the Soundtrack of that Launch Trailer with a Youtube2MP3 Converter and then play it in the background (endless loop), when you start a Match.
Thanks for the tip, i´ll do that! (no irony) What else one can learn from this: MWO doesn´t even have a score / musical theme I cannot really write something new here...i had some more or less undefined expectations for this launch. But i had expectations for something cool and maybe a bit exciting, something that is like "BOOYA, WE`RE LIVE NOW". But i had to shrug and make myself plain, that its after all a damn cool (Mechs!) F2P (...haha...) game, in which the more "hardcore" community (not to say competetive) is maybe not the primary target audience. Lesson learned: Hopefully one can confide better on teammates than on unbalanced guns. Launch is done, time to walk on. Let´s see what PGI is doing after all the big announcements for the upcoming months.
The UAC 5 is alive and well gentlemen... Even with the jams I am able to get epic damage. It is a case now of putting each UAC on its own button, as you would with a macro. And fire as fast as possible. You do not jam as much as you think you would at the same time it is easily possible to get 6-10 shots off in a second and overwhelm your target. Based on unbiased testing the UAC 5 still has 19% higher kill rate than the AC-5 even with jams. I will post the video of the tests so you can confirm that it was a fair unbiased test...Apart from the fact I forgot to select my target twice while clicking like a madman...sigh no ones perfect. Test Video (short) U-p_Or5vckA Shame about the silly loss though... base capture up 8-0 ug
PGI ---- You call this a Launch??? of what, the Titanic!? On UAC5, I tested it yesterday in my 4X. Placed one in one arm, and two AC5s in the other (a fun combo actually). Over all, the UAC5 shot two shot frequently and had a better fire rate than the 2 AC5s combined. So with additional free tonnage I was able to get more ammo and heatsinks. It's not a bad nerf, it could have been done better, but I rarely felt it under perform compared to the 2 AC5s. (except when it jammed :angry
The reduced heat on the Flame Thrower is interesting, but after 20 odd drops today I still doubt heating up enemies is a viable tactic. Running 6 on my JR7-F didn't have any shocking results. They are great for blinding your target and adding to the confusion however. Added one to my SDR-5K and it could hose down targets with a lot less repercussions.
I wonder how PGI feels when their launch announcement resulted in 66 pages (64 of which border on general disappointment down to all out hatred) in 2 days. It would be hard for me to have a party seeing that. I feel kinda bad for their rank and file employees - none of this is their fault; has to be stressful  I can see them in the next meeting being like, "Bryan - for fuck's sake, please just give all of them a brand new variant of X mech with a special paint job and call it a 'thanks for getting us to launch' mech free of charge."
OKAY! NEW F(*&^! RANT TIME! I can take the UAC nerf, I can take the spit in your face for their so called launch gift. What is TICKING me off about this patch is the FREAKING MATCHMAKER... Not only does it take 2 minutes to find a match sometimes it puts you in some of the most ridiculous match-ups imaginable... 1)Twice today our team had 0 assaults while the enemy team got multiple. 2)On more occasions than I can count today there hasn't been a SINGLE assault on either team. 3)AND the most F&*^! annoying of all...HALF my matches today seemed to have HALF of each team a light or medium mech. Now while you may think thats not super annoying it is when you consider that us slower heavies and assaults can no longer stay anywhere near our teams and lights being lights run around like chickens with their heads cut off. Last match was the final straw...it was me alive in my Orion with 7 of my teammates...ALL LIGHTS. Needless to say my slow arse got left behind to be swarmed by their team while our lights were merrily running all over hells half acre. STOP THE MADNESS!!! UN-"FIX" the MM!! OH and don't even get me started on the "24" hanging medallion...YOU CAN ONLY FREAKING CLAIM ON ONE MECH!!
agreed, but then I would have to put 71 FREE medallions in ALL of my mechs, and you can see where that gets old fast
