That's one of the things that kept me going - I have about six million saved towards my first Vulture thanks to the horrible grind.
And done: 55 battles; 35 wins; 112 kills; 37 deaths and 30 qualifying. A horrifying death rate of 67.25%. An average kills of 2.04 per match. Overall 55.35% of my matches and 85.7% of my wins qualified
I'm in the same boat as @PyckenZot --- I had nowhere near enough playing time this weekend to get it done. I only had 15 qualifying matches after last night, and with it ending this morning already (in just 45 minutes from now) there's NO WAY I'm getting that free Mechbay (already have the Phract tho, so not a big deal). Still, I got the 3 days of premium time, so that's pretty nice.
I knew at the beginning that I definitely didn't have enough time to make all 30 points, but I figured a few casual matches over the weekend while leveling my Awesomes would be enough to at least net me my 3 days of premium time. It turned out I only had time for 7 matches, of which only 1 qualified, so early this morning I threw in the towel and brought out my King Crab to wreck everything in sight, going 2 for 2. In all it took me 9 games to get to 3, which I don't feel too bad about anymore, considering it seems everyone has had a hard time of it. My first game in the 4xUAC5 Crab I accidentally got 4 kills and felt really bad about it. After my 2nd kill, I started pulling my punches, but the thing is so ridiculous that I accidentally legged one Cent who must have really skimped on armor, and cored a Helbringer that I couldn't target due to his ECM so I didn't know he was down to internals.
I never pulled my punches unless my team was up by at least 4 kills and the game was actually underway, the score wasn't just 4-0. If I got one kill, gave two kills to other people, and we lost, none of us got points.
Oh man I just barely made it to my 30th point within the last remaining hour left !!!! Now I will have to figure out a fun variant to play and master this mech. The 3 days premium time was a good throw in though, made some nice C-bills out of it.
Had things to tend to, stopped at 21ish and did not finish. Hate to say it but last one is better, with that extra day.
To gain a point you needed a win. I only started pulling in once I "knew" the game was in the bag. Until that time, the fight was without gloves. I had no bad feelings going to the end of match screen with 5 kills. Dropping the last mech standing when I already qualified is another story.
Most of the other players in the Pugs just played normal / fair and let others make their kills, wenn the match was allready won. But there were some Players, that grabbed every close to death mech and even disconnected and Ping0 mechs (while allready having 2-3 kills). A very sad moment was a Stromcrow, that commited suicide (overheating) before i could finish him with my lrms. On the other hand, there were many (light) pilots, legging the enemys so others could get easy kills.
I just played on Saturday unitl I had three qualifying matches and logged off. Haven't logged in since, as I want to make good use of the premium time when redeeming. Maybe Wednesday to Friday.
Lights are always the one easiest way for this kind of competitions, the easiest in this one since you didn't even have to survive. Win = almost always a point.
So as a kind of bad precedence thus event continues during this weekend. Scores reached during the last WE are retained. Players will receive a CTF cockpit statue @ 40 qualifying points and a permanent Sherman camo for CTFs @ 50. WHAT KIND OF BULLSHIT IS THIS? I can already foresee the shitstorm incoming whenever one of the future events WON't be continued durimg the following weekend. In addition to this it's a huge letdown for all players either competent or dedicated enough to earn the CTF during the real challenge. At least for me it is. Finally, both my 3Ds are aleady wearing OS camos... so I am not only forced to stand the LRM bullshit of some premade teams or otherwise creepy teamplay if I want to drop in public this weekend, it also not rewarding at all in a sense.
It has allready started (you can see the new event details, in the tournament section at mwomercs). On the one hand, this is a good idea, because the main event wasn`t easy to win for everyone. But everyone (like me) who tried really hard and invested much time in getting the 30 points, gets frustrated because if he knew about the second weekend, there would have been much less stress last weekend.
Bit lost as to the complaints. A lot of people were after this and IMO it was simply churning games its not like we really achieved much last weekend. Would it have been better to know - maybe. But how many times have we said PGI should listen to their player base. Well they did so are now running it as an extension just with free extra prizes on top for those of us that already got the CTF-3D. Even if you personally achieved it at least be happy for the vast majority that didn't and really wanted the mech.
