Hello, I am looking over the list of mechs and trying to find something that can stack 3 ER LLas in its arms that is fairly fast and jumpy. My options (mechs with jump jets) are then narrowed to Jenner (Any) (if it could fit the weight) TBT-5J TBT-7M VTR-9K or wait for the GRF-1N... thoughts?
You really want three hot ERLLas?? If that's the case then i would go for the Victor because you need the Tonnage for a lot of Heatsinks. E.g. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=88&l=91a3e07934b7fdb523babfbe721597fabd74ee99
sounds like the TBT-5J is your boat then. If that's all you wanted, shouldn't their already be a build, and if not, shouldn't you be posting one?
Well... I don't know which mech to make and then post? I don't want to pick a mech that isn't suited for the role I want to fill? Maybe something like this? TBT-5J or this TBT-7M
http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=61&l=0c628d07c8e1907df3995b43170a5c40e66a1b93 TRY this out. use the ER for sniping, and the ML for CQB. Heat will be manageable, if you stick to cover like a bad movie poster.
Go easy on the newer guys, geez. Hes clearly posting this because hes having issues. But the Answer the mech question: Stalker. Best ER/LL boat ever made in the game, except for the Cataphract 3D if you like JJ. CTF-3D Voila! the ERLL Cata-3D. Max speed even with a STD engine and nothing but what you asked for: ERLL and JJ. Personally id give this guy an XL and put some other stuff in there or at least downgrade the engine...but whatever you like. I know the ERLL are not in the arms except for one, but 2 can be placed in there but with the hardpoints where they are, they fire much higher and give you better clearance firing from the Torsos. STK-3F Heres a Stalker variant with direct/indirect fire support. Any stalker build could pull this off so just pick your flavor of other weapon choices.
here is the thing, you can do 4 ERLL in the 3D well, and 6LL in the Stalker. I would think the OP wants a fast mech with as many LL fitable on the mech, with as many JJ as possible.
He spelled it out pretty clearly what he wanted. 1. 3 ERLL - check 2. Fairly fast and jumpy - check (with the cata) 86.6 kmh isnt blazing fast, but for a heavy with a STD engine, its WAY more than respectable. 86.6 is medium mech speeds and 2 JJ in the 3D is all you'll ever need. The only thing i strayed from is that the 3D can only house 2 LL in its arms, but given the 2 Torso hardpoint locations, the torso lasers actually perform better than the arms.
It would be a bit easier if we knew what role he had in mind. Lasers in the arms (not a single arm) would suggest something of a brawler, with good and fast tracking, but then: why ER-LLAS. Although he could also mean to have the weapons in the arms so he can peek out of cover and take a shot with half the body still covered, as in sniper.
3x ERLLas would get you bad ghost heat penalty. If you want to jump snipe or just snipe your LLas may not need to be at your arms. Arm mounted Beams are only good when brawling. I suggest using the ERLLas at long range, and something else for short range. On that I would give you suggestions. *Stay Tuned*
Well, if he would use JJ with the ERLLas then it is not for chainfire. But you are right, maybe OP likes to chainfire ERLLas. I think if he would provide more information then we can give more constructive build and suggestions. If the op is thinking about long range havoc as his primary onjective then maybe this one will work. JJ to move around, and generally long range weaponary. AC5 for additional firepower with minimal heat generation when things are getting hot. Reasonable speed also. I would not pilot something like this, but maybe OP would like it. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=88&l=1bed14d90460187e845589751acc9eb54f3b7aea If OP just want a jumpy light/medium with ERLLas then this. The SPLas is for close range self defence. You can use PLas if you want, but I think this mech is hot as is, and you would be using those ERLLas most of the time anyways. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=61&l=20d70abb8eec8925f6cc99c18bc915d532b47f8c
I use this myself and have gotten some good scores in it, despite the heat penalties of three LLAS. Just remember to chain them after the first opening shots. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=88&l=cb163d24b5f06fa214505e1df7e89ace42a18107
Thank you for your warm welcome . A little more? 90 kph ish. I want to feel mobile for my weight class and be able to outrun the "average" medium mechs. My goal for the build is as a mobile sniper platform. I have found that being far away isn't a good enough defense as a sniper, you have to be able to fire and then reposition fast enough to prevent the enemy from getting a bead on you. You also have to be able to track the lights that will inevitably try to flank you (which is why I want the lasers in the arms). My plan is to alpha strike and then reposition. Moving to chain fire if engaged by a lighter faster mech. I think the Trebuchet is going to be my first attempt. I appreciate all the feedback. I had overlooked the Cataphract as a jumper and might switch over to one if the Trebuchet isn't as fun as I hoped for.
At 90kph+, we're firmly in Trebuchet territory. Just be forewarned, the Trebs aren't very good. Most of them don't jump, which is a shame, and none of them have the tonnage to pull off what they're trying. If the jump jets aren't a hard requirement, I'd say go Centurion... but I always so go Centurion. STD Engine http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=28&l=feee810a98ea0708cffa5966af26fe20e8c0905e XL Engine http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=28&l=b7819b9925e6fd3afbd3398a7380a90a9d41603c I'm gonna level with you, though. I hate the ER Large Laser. I don't feel like the ER is worth the heat cost. It needs something, like a .1 shorter beam duration to make it worthwhile. The idea that you can keep a beam trained on a single component of a target for one second while its more than a km away is unrealistic.

The ERLL in the arms is going to melt your core before you could fight them off. I would recommend taking any of the suggested builds and dropping them down to standard LLs, including the Treb. I believe I have a 4 LL Treb floating around in my mech bay. When I'm home from work, I'll check and see.
I have to agree as well. the ERLL just isnt worth the heat. 9/10 times the LL is more than enough. Theres also really only 1 map that has consistent issues with range, but hey, sometimes you just need the 10/10.
This! http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=84&l=9b71333aa032cc932df64520d04b1f4c6d738db7 or if you don't mind being almost 90kph speed only.
