Certainly there are more but as far as being a bonehead and appearing to be as big of a noob as humanly possible and a total liability to the team in general, this has gotta be in the top 3 for me, no question.

So it goes like this: I am in fact a noob in my Atlas but this episode goes above and beyond the call of noobidity...

Canyon/Assault/D-DC with 2LPLas/Gauss/3 SSRM2/ECM.. I work my way into the middle of the map, get to a good firing position where I know I can get some Gauss shots off across the top of the canyon and wait. So lo and behold the first customer of the day turns out to be a Phract... so I get some shots into him, but he gets a lot more into me and I lose the Gauss and one of the LPL's with an arm... Not a good exchange. So for the rest of the match I stomp around with my 1 LPL & 3 steaks... Naturally I am the last one standing vs. 3 opponents 1 of which has ECM... so I, in true noob fashion, never fired my streaks...

Even though I have ECM myself and could have put it on counter...

And as I finally face plant in the dust, I look over at the chat window and there it is from one of my teammates:
    "Set your ECM to counter"
    "Set your ECM to counter"
    "lol"

... So just to round out the experience, I also had a case of noob-lock and never even looked at the chat window...

...so yeah, just so bad and embarrassing... And what makes it worse is that there is someone out there that knows my name now through only that one single experience...

Valuable lesson learned? Yes. But I wish I didn't have to suck so hard to learn it...

Hmmmmm I would say my biggest noob moment? Probably a couple of weeks ago I had a few drinks and was running around in my Jenner.

I was playing with some friends outside of my current Corps and was all like "Don't sweat it. I got this, nobody is over here" and then I charged around a corner to find two 6x ERPPC stalkers waiting there. Don't think I even had time to complete a full 180 degree turn before they vaporized everything from the legs up.

That match lasted an entire 36 seconds for me.

I have a recurring noob moment everytime I pilot any of my non-Jenners, and then hop into my JR7-F. It's far too easy to forget how much heat 6x MLas can generate. It's usually a quick lesson:

I recorded my most embarassing moment, it took place during previous tournament, I made sure to link it in right before it happens as I get a killshot on Mechspecs.com forum user Netherkat! For those of you who can't be asked, basically I'm in the middle of a great round and kill myself standing out of bounds by about 2 meters.

In my X-5 with only thirty or so seconds until we won via points when I swing out of bounds and somehow just immediately get stuck. I was the last one alive, so everyone saw that. The chat became... interesting.

On Tourmaline, I caught a glimpse of red mech nearby and hid behind a corner. "When you turn that corner mate one of us is in for a big surprise, hee hee, I'm so clever ..."
It was a surprise indeed when he and his 7 buddies turned the corner ...

Ok, I've got a new "Most Embarrassing" from tonight.

On River City our team (North Dropzone) went to Upper City. An enemy X-5 rushed past us and past the north map boundry. Myself and 3 teammates chased after him. 10 seconds later, all 5 of us died from being out-of-bounds.

    Noobosis is contagious is seems.

Just had one earlier in my Atlas D-DC, Frozen City.

Enemy team had two DCs and I shout out "They are two down, let's play this smart and focus fire".

So we hit Epsilon and are about to move past the wreckage when all of them pop up besides the tunnel area, smack down at the glacier. I see a LRM-Boat Stalker and move there and the next thing I know, I fight the Stalker and a Highlander, the entire team is scattered between that area and behind the dropship by Epsilon and we get pwned with only one of them being taken down by us.

So stupid... and it shows that this game needs just coordination and you can prune a superior force by taking it apart one by one.

Here's one, although it didn't happen to me, in fact quite the opposite...
...last night, Frozen City, enemy team is down 7-2. Last dude alive was a Jenner on our base, which was the one with only 1 cave entrance (I guess downhill?). We were falling back and getting him in sights, so he took off and ran into cave. I was still up near ridge by dropship, so I sit tight for a sec and think. He's obviously going cave, so I start to turn around and head towards their base in the back of the glacier. Then I stop cuz I had a better idea; it's so obvious.

We had another guy on ridge, he's tighter to cliff and decides to cut into the mid entrance, but doesn't really get any shots on the Jen in the tunnel. Meanwhile I'm running directly towards edge of map now, I say fuck going back their base. I go to A3, which is like down in that valley near Theta spot on Conquest. I sit tight and as the teammate who was going through tunnel comes out the back, he gets a lock on the Jen for a sec. I see the Jen is at his own base and running the edge of map to survive, thinking we will go cap him out. Nope. I wait about 5-10 more secs, here he comes running right smack into me in the valley. I was in quad LPL 3D. Jenner died. Knew he was going to run edge of map, so predictable with those types of Lights.

Had an IFF bug where it disappeared then everyone was red to me. (Second week playing) was in Alpine and I was sitting on hill facing epsilon for a while when I got a red blip behind me. Turned around and saw a Jager marching into base and I started sniping him with my centurion's ERL. Cleverly popped up and down from behind cover nailing this guy... Team chat got real busy but I was too focused trying to slay this attacker. I was so good he couldn't even fire a single shot at me.

Finally killed him then sat back smirking and patted myself on the back while catching up on team chat.

It basicly said 'he's on our team Fherot. Stop TKing you fucking moron. Why are you shooting me dude?''

Well other team all laughed at me... I went to go fight with tail between legs when I got jumped by Chenk the Tank in a Yen Lo Wang and a cicada or something. They legged and killed me quickly and I called them legging something something's and deservedly got flamed as a TKing whiner. Chenk trolled me a bit then I logged off sadly.

Half hour or so later I log on with my friend Rucku5. Alpine again, Chenk on their team again. Time to redeem myself as Chenk calls me out and says he's coming for me. A few minutes later its just Chenk left and he asks my team to let us duel eachother. They actually agree and Chenk and I meet up on the field infront of Epsilon. Yen Lo Wang versus my Centurion CN9-AL 'Roland' build.

An epic minute or two later and Chenk falls with the rest of team forming a circle around us. We both salute eachother and ever since then him and I have been friendly-arch rivals when we cross paths.

Got a few people who watched the duel who recognized me for rest of night and it was really an awesome moment you couldn't replicate in most first person shooters.

My friend Rucku5 had an embarrassing moment dying to Soy (seriously embarressing) a short while after my duel with our idiot Jagers shooting both of them. Soy of course fist-pumped killing Rucku5 and just trolled him for a good few minutes acting like the Champion of Solaris. Next game who do we get? Soy.. Rucku5 quickly wiped Soy out and made him eat his words. Even though we ended up losing we were against 5-6 enemies and it ended with last one or two killing Rucku5. Great night.

My most embarrassing moment actually occurred in a 5-kill round of mine. It was Frozen City (maybe night, can't remember) conquest. I was on a close derivative of the Amon build for my AWS-9M (380 XL, 3xLPL, 3xML). I started north side, decided to push their spawn so we get an extra base. I killed their 2 AFK/DC mechs, my team kills 2 of theirs, and dies. So it's me vs. 4.

I go to epsilon. As I'm capping it, a highlander shows up. I'm torso twisting and everything and winning the duel, but I'm taking a pounding. I see another mech come up (think it was a catapult, it was a while ago). I was using the oil rig at Epsi as a buffer between me and the Highlander, but I knew that in 2v1 they would just destroy me. So I fire one salvo at the Cat CT...he drops. I'm getting props from my team at this point, more props when I finish off the Highlander.

Next I go to Theta, where I know they have a legged Jagermech. I took a couple more hits against him, but I had absolute control over whether or not the oil rig was between us, and I was able to hit his other leg with impunity. We were ahead on cap, and ahead on points. I knew the last guy was at kappa, and he was faster than me (Trebuchet, IIRC). I figured I'd circle around back to our spawn as he goes to theta, but I didn't realize he was going to drop down and take the trench. He was able to finish me off. Had I turned around and gone back towards epsi, we would have won on cap.

Even so, I had 5 kills on a loss, that's kinda hard to do.

As long as we're mentioning redemption stories too:

Last night I was trying out some tweaks on my Cataphract 3D build when someone on the other team started calling me a furry. I'm used to it (my name is a long-running joke about furries) and gave him my basic, "I'm not a furry, but my name is," which usually gets a few chuckles and we all move on. This guy kept at it though so I just ignored him and got down to the match.

The fight went poorly, our team got caught in the river of River City with the enemy on the high ground. Once about half our team was down I decided to make a last-ditch charge. I flanked around to an empty hillside and jetted over a barrier, as soon as I crested the top I had an enemy mech dead in my sights. I alpha'd and picked up the kill against the guy who'd been calling me a furry the entire time.

As I ducked back behind cover amid PPC and autocannon fire I hammered out on my keyboard, "Call me a furry will you?!"

No.1: I killed a Teammate in a chaotic Brawl and cheered at first, only realizing later when i read the message of that dude: "WTF, why you killed me, you ******" ... OOPS!

No.2: I jumped into the Lava soup on Therma and couldn't get out fast enough -> Blagg Zear killed Blagg Zear! ******!

No.3: I was at 90+% Health in a Heavy and desperately died against a Zombie-Cent with only 2 MLas, chasing him over a minute over the whole map. I guess it was Sidetorso.Explosion thx to XL-Engine.

Dropped with a mate with a new build, essentially built around ballistics and 8 ton of ammo... I was telling him about the hurt I was about to lay down and theoretical damage i could put out with all the glorious ammo i had. So I had ac10's and took 8 tons of ac5 ammo.

How about this. 6 tons of AC5 ammo on my shadowhawk, but forgot to put my 2x AC5 in.

I have 2 outstandingly embarrassing moments. First was a match on River City. At the end of the match, it is me, 1v1 in my 6 ML Jenner F against an Atlas. Neither of use were at full armor, but neither of use were weak either. after about a minute and a half of fighting, I open his CT to a warm orange. I launch one more alpha strike to finish him off... only to overheat right in front of him. He finishes me off right before I power back on.

The other embarrassing moment was on Tourmaline. I was running my Jenner F again, and flanked the enemy team. I had a Jager in my sights, and was ready to alpha him in the back, when, suddenly, I became mortified as jets of flame were in the place of the deadly green beams. I was doing flamer heat testing last night, and forgot to switch my weapons over the next drop. I spent the remainder of the match sulking to the caps in hopes of a point victory. Towards the end of the match, my team was a few mechs up and dominating the combat. I duck between enemies, hopping to get small amounts of damage as I run by them, weapons blazing. Eventually, one guy in team chat says "I didn't know 6 flamers was a effective build." I announced I dropped in the build my mistake, but it didn't help the fact that I dropped in a 6 flamer Jenner.

Overall though, it is better to drop with flamers instead of lasers than it is to drop with ACs but the wrong ammo. (I've done that too)

Not so long ago I was on mumble with a new player, providing advice and stuff. I'm the great sifu shining of immemorial knowledge, something like that.
I was "the most important when piloting a light mech is to be careful, be aware of our surrounding environment, where a enemy might come from, you don't want to be caught off-guard, etc...." when suddenly passing a building corner I'm headshot by a boomjag I didn't even saw.

Seams I'm not wise enough to be a kungfu master

I recall a video sometime ago, either MacksCorner or NGNG, but he basically did the same thing live and was like "way to sound like a complete hypocrite. Tell the viewers what do to then immediately throw it all out the window!"

    it was gold.

    EDIT:
I remember now, Mack (by no means an expert with light) was highlighting his opinion of them

here it is, the part is just after the 10 minute marker:
