I really doubt this will change the Dual AC/20 builds much. The most any 'mech can mount are two AC/20s, and they'd need to make the heat penalty insane to punish that. At which point, they'd just switch over to dual gauss.
Well I just did this (like 10 mins ago) and I did it by chain firing my AC20s instead of Alpha striking them Even with chain firing this mech is still pretty deadly. I don't think the nerf is gonna affect the BoomJager all that much to be honest. Maybe for newbie players who can't really lead their shots and time the chain fire (in otherwords they are 1ClickWarriors) but for a more competent player? No problem.
Maybe Arch, but you know the downside of dual gauss? They blow up. The Arms for most Dual AC/20 Builds are relatively easy to hit. On top of that, each Gauss needs another ton to carry it and thus will make the build either less armoured or even slower.
However, 3 more rounds per ton. I consider that a big advantage. 40 rounds instead of 28 feels safer. I actually like a Jager with 1xAC/20 and 1xGauss if going for the big alpha. Still punches like Tyson, but, gives more range. However, I will stick to my smaller guns and plink away.
Vergere, I am sure you had the heat increase, you just could not tell because the heat increase is with 2.8 points not that much... at once. The point is the cumulation of all that heat and nearing those 100%, which now damage you, too fast.
Can someone explain exactly how the heat bonus is calculated? I don't understand, except for the part "it generated more heat".
I said two rapid clicks. I hope you have control of how fast your fingers are clicking, since that would not allow you to fire multiple weapons in each click. Click button "1", wait 0.6 seconds, click "2". That and similar things should be easy, or you can setup a macro if you have keyboards like that (which I don't) Not as good as a single alpha, but still pretty good. As for ssrm2, chain fire these guys does seem to cost less heat in total than firing them all at the same time, probably a combination of there having some cool down time and only some part of a heat penalty is applied. You should test that. That or you can fire 3-4, wait 0.6 seconds, and spam again. As for seismic, that is exactly my point. My idea is to make seismic a warning system of enemy mech and things nearby without being able to use it as a targeting tool. That way bigger mechs cannot use that to target lights easily during combat.
Yeah, going from 0% heat on Canyons to only 78%, Easy as pie. I do have that chassis mastered, So do take that into account. But I did kill a lone cicada, standing still. I laughed so hard.
http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/127904-heat-scale-the-maths/page__pid__2575191#entry2575191 The math behind the heat scale is posted.
How about the math on chain firing? is it the same? or is only weapons fired within the so-called 0.6 second period counted?
It is the same. Anything within that 0.5 second window counts as an "alpha", or against the heat threshold, but anything outside of that (that is being chain fired) operates normally.
You guys FORGOT to update and post the UPDATED weapons chart with the new heat scale and multiplier. Thanks for the work though. Note that streaks are not penalized too much.
Another big loser is actually the HBK-4P (C) Champion Mech. If I'm reading it right, firing your torso battery (6 ML) results in no heat penalty, 24 heat total. Firing 7 (Torso+Head) jumps you up to a heat scale of 0.8, which lands you with a penalty 3.2 heat; 11% Extra heat for 31.2 heat total. Firing off all 9 MLs leads to a toasty 13.6 extra heat for a total of 49.6 heat, which is more than double the heat from 6 ML. I guess now's as good a time as any to try out a SPL build.
The fact that they put LPL with LL tells you how dumb this whole concept is. Not that I care. The funny thing is they think this will lower the overall ceiling of domination, on the contrary, all it does it make us sit in 3Ds and Heavy Metals with 2 ppcs and a gauss, tarting all the baddies down.
I would imagine Gauss would be getting a chopping block of some kind next. I haven't figured out what yet but I would bet its coming!
