NVA-S "Gemini" Sauce - Episode 19 features this mech extensively, so check it out: ----- I know some of yall newblets think you need those MGs. Na; fuck that. The AMS is there because there is leftover tonnage and the mech lacks survivability after exposure for facemelting purposes. Thusly, after melting said face and retreating behind cover, it helps alleviate LRM scrubs from scraping your precious back armor - most is put to front to compensate the fact that you have to stare at everyone in the face! The approach I tend to go with is to play patient and wait for opportunities. Don't bother exposing just to "get a look" of some ranged exchanges. You can also do flanking manuevers with this mech but if you get caught, you're probably in trouble if you don't immediately kill or break LoS on said enemy. If it's not a complete flank on some unaware victim, then typically go straight core on most mechs, shoulder on XL, and leg on lights. Sometimes that doesn't present itself. Most of the time I just go straight core cuz it presents an easier target. Seeing as how fast this thing can burst but how precise the aim has to be in certain situations, I find that since the CT is usually largest it's typically my default location for aiming at. ----- There is a NVA-B version, which shaves max leg armor from 47 to 40 (and head to 16), and then replaces the AMS and ammo with a TC1 and a cAP. This version also has the extra 5% torso turn rate due to NVA-B center torso quirk, but less survivability due to lacking AMS and less leg armor - it is slightly more offensively minded as you get target locks faster, which may help you locate precious internals for a more efficient killshot. ----- If smurfy is saying these mechs don't have both actuators in both arms - they do. There are zero empty slots when the mech is built. If you want to squeeze in one extra DHS, you can remove the actuators from one arm entirely, giving you 2 slots (that aren't split up)... you can then shave down leg armor to 40, drop the ammo down to 1/2 a ton, and get a 23rd DHS in that arm's to slots. But I think you'll want as much reticle action as you can get. This mech is the best clan poptart I have built yet, except for my other Nova build - NVA-B "Binary" which will be posted later today as well. It is slightly more efficient at poptarting because the beam duration is shorter, so you can pump that damage a bit more precise and quicker while floating on the apex of a tart. Check that build out if you're interested. ----- I'm using tier 5 cERSL range and cooldown modules, and seismic and radar deprivation with this mech.
I use this build on a prime with TC1 and cAP, in total agreement that MGs are not needed. Keeps warm in winter, too.
I really enjoy triple AMS Kit Fox, and recently realized that the Nova can now get triple AMS with the addition of the A variant Omnipods. There's no ECM like a Kit Fox, but much more firepower and armor. Just slap some range extension and AMS overdrive on this thing and you're ready to eat LRMs for breakfast.
Lol very interesting Rico! xD Don't forget it renders streaks and SRM6 crow/dogs kinda gimpy too when you get one alone, frontal.
Good point! That didn't even cross my mind. I was trying out a longer range version of this concept with more AMS ammo. The pop tarting was nice but the lack of heatsinks really showed. Still have to test it out more but I think I'll be sticking with the 12 ERSLs EDIT: 12 ERSL definitely the way to go. Currently eliting novas so I can use AMS range and overdrive as well as ERSL range.
I ended up dropping a heatsink for half ton more ams and half ton more leg armor. I was getting legged more than I'd like to admit XD
5/5, Each arm deals 30 point damage if you can keep it on target! I find dual AMS to be sufficient for regular use and trade the tonnage for a TC1
In this case one should always mount the B right torso (5% cooldown), and I'd go for max armor instead of the TC1, Nova's quite tanky for the weight now, but too many times it's too stripped : And its main strenght is poptarting, so no, no and no leg stripping
You stump knocking moon tards are going to talk me into buying back my Nova for the third time...STOP IT!!!
