The 4X was the first mech I owned way back in the beta, so I have a bit of a soft spot for it. I've stuck with the Raven chassis through the whole rollercoaster, from invincible brawler to irrelevant novelty. I'd go back to the 4X every once in a while to try and find a place for it in the meta, but it always proved lackluster. Five years and many balance patches later, the same tired old 4X that was idle in my mechbay for so long is now wearing this setup and slaying nerds once again. This build is designed with quick play pubs in minds, where you're often lost for purpose in a 5 minute hill humping standoff on Alpine or Polar before the melee begins. Since you won't be shooting at this time, LAMS will help keep your heavies fresh. I usually turn it off at knife fighting range. With chassis maximum speed and 3 jump jets, you want to play it like a Huginn, going for the rear CT of the nearest heavy. The 25 damage alpha is usually enough to strip the CT bare, then the butcher's work begins with the MG's. If I were to run this competitively (it's good enough to make me want to try), I'd use this instead: Drop the LAMS, get the full complement of 5 jump jets, and either max the armor or grab another half-ton of ammo for your chosen weapon. I'd add SRM ammo; I've run 4 or 5 armor on the Raven's head since the beginning and have been headshot maybe 10 times, so in my experience it's more than adequate.
