Super chicken pilots give this one a try! This is the ERLLas version of my shadow dragon build. The 2D is better suited to be the long-range version of this build due to having all of the weapons on the left side of the mech. This would allow you to expose less of your mech. Also, for sniping purposes, you may be able to get away with taking a ton of armor off the shield arm, right torso and legs. That would give you an extra ton for better heat efficiency. I also opted to shift some armor off the right torso and into the legs. The reduced armor is partially mitigated by the extra DHS crit padding the XL engine.
Another great build for the 2D. ERLLAS complement perfectly with the Gauss. And all on the same side is a great advantage over the 5M. Both for picking shots exposing the least surface possible, but also for shielding the fragile gauss with the armored arm. I prefer the first version by far, 2xERLLAS are ok with 10 DHS.
I just noticed that all this time I played your 5M build with an XL245, possibly because I didn't had an 255 available. While speed is always fine I think for this build it is not amongst the top priorities. The 245 worked well and I imagine even a 235 could work just fine. The freed up tonnage could go either into: A) Two more DHS B) 1 DHS & 1t of Gauss Ammo C) 1 DHS & more armour in the right section, so that you can shift it towards the enemy as a shield to soak damage D) Armour & 1t of Gauss Ammo Everyone can upgrade what's important to him and a 245 would be the golden middle. Heat efficiency is really needed and welcome to maximize damage output in certain situations while in recent matches I felt I could need even more Gauss ammo on the long run. The beauty about Gauss+ERLLas is in my opinion it's versatility. While being very long range oriented you still pack an enormeous punch in close quarter battles, only missing heat efficiency. Certainly you want to fight the Triarius way then, avoiding to be the one in the first line who taunts the enemy. Still you can lead a lance once the enemy line breaks to come upon them like a Blitz with your pinpoint damage to finish open torsi before they can even react and see them driven before you. One example and my personal favorite so far - the red eyed shadow dragon:
Good and viable suggestion to step down the engine size. Just beware that you don't get a ton for every step down in engine size, but only half a ton. That's because you lose one of the internal heat sinks as the lower engine sizes only have 9 heat sinks instead of 10. So, option D isn't possible, and the freed up 1 ton can go to an extra ton for a DHS, gauss ammo, or armor, but not a combination of them.
You live and learn. Thanks for that intel as I didn't knew about it yet. So basically my posted version is simply a -6,5km/h + 1ton of ammo variation to your second build. Well out of a sudden downsizing your engine ain't that appealing to me anymore.
another thing I like is it can swap between long range and close range keeping engine and armor values, from 2xLPL 1XLBX10 to this
Lately I'm running a cooler and faster version, with more armor and mobility, and AMS, having lots of fun with it. or ammo version the speed and JJs really help with gauss.
Looks good to me. Much more manageable amount of weight dedicated to the weapons with the MLas. I'd move all of the gauss ammo in the legs up into the right torso though. It will help crit-pad the XL engine. You won't get too much action in the legs in this mech unless you're brawling and jumping a lot.
That's true, I edited those builds, shield arms are quite effective too on SHD, usually I run very low armor on them but I'm starting to like them. Also after some tests I prefer much more the 60 ammo version, with a single gauss I can take shots from 800-1000m without regretting it later on.
Personal opinion, but i don't think the MLs in this mech and a faster engine are a good idea. Your running XL+Gauss in torso, a few lucky hits and you're dead. The MLs and faster engine will make you want to brawl more, which is a big no no for this guy. Optimal range for this build is around 500m. Not to mention you will be even more worried about loosing that right arm since it has a ML in it, so you're defeating the purpose of a shield arm. The AMS might be required though, especially these days. I would sacrifice some head and leg armor for that.
I run this mech ensted, very similar but I pull in some serious money with it. I FIRMLY believe that this same mech with 2 x ERLL is sweet, but ever since the invasion it just runs way to slow. But with the additional speed, and right tactics, this mech still brings home the c-bills Here is some awesome footage regarding this build This one doubles as a very cool music video. Default res sucks guys, so kick it up a notch.
Oh, ams is not needed these days...not with radar deprivation. Saves you 1.5 - 2 tons, and saves your health vs lrm. And I'd never be concerned with losing a ML vs taking some critical damage. Sometimes in battle, that's the way it goes.
