I have been having quite a lot of success with this build. It's fast, just enough ammo for a long round. If you don't poptart to much you can stick with your assault's and heavy's and you won't been seen as a big threat! So far I can score about 400-600 DMG on good rounds with about 2-5 kills. If your a real good shot take off a ton of ammo and max out the armor. The ballistic spot being mounted so high is very useful.
I run mine like this, but on the SHD-2D2: You can also take off 2 JJ's and upgrade to an XL295. Piloted to great success in Mediums vs The World! http://i.imgur.com/nB4x6rb.jpg[/img]
I agree with tfun here. Not only will the 2D2 give you a shield arm, but your weapons will have better convergence from being on the same side of the mech.
One could also point out that the literal mini poptart, a SHD-M or -H with 2AC5 ERPPC, has been tearing it up even in high elo matches. No risk of gaussplosion in your XL side torso, 45% more max DPS, 40% more sustained DPS, better projectile speed convergence, and no charge mechanic in a brawl. I swapped my AC20+PPC to Gauss+ERPPC for kicks on a STD240, and the number one problem I had with it was the DPS. The alphas were nice, but you had to hope the match was a standoff, because you sure as heck weren't going to punish an enemy push or sustain much pressure on a push of your own.
Ugh, agreed. Posted so long ago, wouldn't run it today. Just something I found to be productive back when phoenix pack came out.
