Hi all! I deeply hate the LRMS :angry: and am looking to create a specific build to destroy them, but I'm still a newbie at this :blush: , and I don´t know where to start. I suppose it will be necessary for carrying ECM but little more... What you think about you make a build among us in this role?
Either go light, quickly hunt and harass them. Or go sniper with Gauss and ERPPC. ECM is not absolutely needed but it is good to have. The value of ECM is a lot less with 12vs12 as on many maps you are always in sightline of someone. I'd go with a Jenner, maybe a D version. 4 MLAS and 8 SRM missiles in a Alpha kneecap will hurt a lot on the LRM boats primary ammo storage...

... or you encounter them with an LRM.Build yourself! Best with multiple LRM15s or LRM10s, Artemis, Tag and BAP. I had lots of game, where i played a Stalker or Awesome and just shoot more Missiles back than the enemy LRM.Boat could shoot at me. That was quite fun. Just make sure, you find some cover fast if missiles are incoming and/or that Teammates around you have AMS.
Like the others have said, there's basically two ways. 1) Take a mobile light and harass them into distraction/death 2) Snipe them when the try to get a lock Anymore, I find that dedicated LRM boats almost always drop with spotters. Blind/Kill/Harass the spotter, and you'll reduce the efficacy of the LRM boat. Now, if a significant force comes to meet you with LRM support, then it makes sense to go after the LRM boat. The UAC/5 is a good DPS weapon, and it has good range. A hail of bullets will usually force LRM boats to withdraw. Oh, and go for the right leg. It's the last ammo bin to be used, and many LRM boats carry so much ammo that it has to take up leg crits. Even a single ton of LRM ammo should cascade up the leg and into the side torso, killing most 'mechs and maiming those smart enough to pack CASE with a STD engine. Edit: Most flanker builds with at least one decently ranged weapon should make a good LRM hunter.
I've been curious how exactly CASE is working in MWO. Does anyone remember the official description? I was under the impression that CASE does not do anything for leg/arm ammo explosions because the damage only transfers to the connected torso (which CASE doesn't stop). Several of the other people on teamspeak have voiced similar opinions.
