A fairly standard brawler build here. My other brawler build utilised Pulse Lasers and Streak SRMs, providing better defence against Light mechs. This build is geared more towards Heavy/Assault mech combat. There are several posts online of similar builds, often using quad SRM6s. I chose to use SRM4s after reading the SRM/SSRM guide posted in the Guides and Combat Tests section of Mechspecs. I feel that they are the best compromise of weight, fire-power and ammo efficiency (I don't like the idea of having to make do with half or part volleys). Also, not going for maximum fire-power allows the heat efficiency of the build to stay acceptable. Being a brawler build, survivability is paramount, so all ammo is protected by C.A.S.E and the build runs a Standard engine. The armour rating is not as high as I'd like, but 14.5 tons still affords a good deal of protection.
Yeah, it's a tough choice between SRM4s and ASRM6s. The ASRMs double the weight to give you 50% more missiles, but man, what an alpha! I wouldn't do SRM6s, though, way too wide a pattern and the Stalker can sometimes have issues closing. I ran a similar build on my 3F before I switched to energy boat, except I had ASRM6s and used ER LL instead of LL. I only used the ERs at long range, though, it made it an inefficient brawler with an efficient long-range option. On my 5S, I now have a build similar to this (again, with ER LLs instead of LLs) but I'm running dual AMS and BAP for utility.
I have a similar build, but with 4LLas, the SRM4 spread makes it superior to the 6 in some situations. Its worked out real well for me and a few clan members.
I half-way agree with Dwergi. Right now we cannot modify our ammo feeds, so there's no benefit to CASEing the same type of ammo in both side torsos. I would consolidate the ammo in either the L or R torso (or arm), then CASE only that side. I'd drop that new found .5 tons into armor. I would not take any armor off the torsos, since they are huge on the Stalker.
You will lose your side torsos. I mean, 100% guaranteed will lose one during a game - why would you put ammo there, even cased? No one legs a Stalker, and even if they do, you only lose half your SRM ammo. CASE is a complete waste of tonnage.
