Float like a rock, sting like a BEE FROM HELL! Lights fear me. Mediums hate me. Heavies loathe me and Assaults had better bring friends. Tight clusters with the SRMs, enough lightning to alternate for heat and an Alpha to end anyone sitting still. I hate slow mechs, but, if I'm going assault, why not do it with some bang. I tried LRMs, however, I get bored too easily. This brawls like a mad man. Little loose on the focus with SRMs, but, the Artemis makes it useable. Edit: Switched out the MPLs for MLas to increase distance and manage heat a little better.
You should rename this 'The Hellbeast' or something equally scary! I have a similar mentality when it comes to Assault Brawler builds. Go big or go home. To parody Tony Montana (applicable when meeting an opposing lance in battle): 'You wanna play rough? OK. Say goodbye to all of your friends!' I came up with this alternative build. Its along the same lines, just trading a bit of fire-power for improved survivability in a brawl: I switched three of the five SRM6s to SRM4s and dropped Artemis. SRM4s apparently perform adequately without it and the freed up critical slots can be used for fitting an AMS module, more ammo and Endo Steel. There were enough free tons left over to install a Standard engine rather than an XL, greatly improving survivability in a brawl. As the various SRM/ASRM alternatives perform better at different ranges within the max. range, having both SRM4s and SRM6s gives you great flexibility and although this doesn't have the outright terror factor of your original build, it might prove to be more useful overall.
Here's another alternative a little closer to your original build: Same fire-power, more ammo, Standard engine. Not as focused, but you have the armour (where it counts) to make use of the increased combat persistence.
Not used to playing so slow! Seeing the need for AMS. Pretty hard to run for cover at 9kph. :yikes: Stupid assaults. The Artemis helped narrow the shotgun, but, it is significant tonnage and I dig the STD engine. I'll try swapping that out. I was using XL300 mostly because it's what I owned. I buy too many mechs, not enough good engines.
93 alpha in current meta. Which you CAN alpha (with a .5 second delay between SRM groups) without overheating. Set two separate weapon groups for your SRMs and laaaaaugh your evening away. Come face to face with an Atlas, only use your SRMS and MLas for your first stike. If he doesn't run that instant from all his armor disappearing in 1 second, fire in with the LLas. Or, my preference, cool off to 40% and unleash the nukes again. SRM30 is just funny. (or SRM12 followed by SRM18 a half second later as I fire them)
It's on sale and this this is a BEEAAAAAAST with the SRMs... SRM6+A is my favorite weapon in the game. Stock engine version for those who want the safety of a STD:
