Good to hear its working for you as this is easily my most sucessful TBR setup... just needs heat control. :)

After the weapon balance, if you get caught by an IS brawler you are dead meat, clans are still good but not the beasts they used to be.

As you see with groupings and different playstyle you got nice results, but one can't run and bully all day in a timber after quirks. Quirked heatwise IS mechs have a really huge advantage in cooling.

This is also why I tend to run around 40% cool. eff. builds on clans now.

I run it as such, keep distance and snipe with LPLs, and then once in brawl range I can actually go wild and don't overheat.

Also, just a few less alpha, but much more accurate (less duration or small lasers), more DPS (less cooldown).

Sure you drop on the range, but the 600m of LPL and the speed of the Timber make up for it.

    OR

even those feel pretty damn hot for me. I feel the ERML isn't worth the heat because of the burn time, compared to ERSLAS and MPL. The LPL is an amazing weapon tho, because of the range and damage.

But overall I like those 2 laservomit builds better

I run 2 LPL/5ERSL on several builds (TBR/SCR/GAR mainly) but one advantage of the 2 LPL/5ERML is the similar burn time and ability to drop a huge laser alpha at longer range if you're running cold. That said I've not hidden I'm a big fan of 2 LPL/5ERSL. :D

I find the TBR 7 MPL version is effective but does it really give you much over the new quirked IS versions - I'd argue only the DHS and XL engine allow it to be competitive and it seems a waste for anything except a rush team in CW.

Coincidentally this is my ubah secret Laser Scalpel 2 LPL/5ERSL TBR...

TC1, cAP and extra double heat sink.

Shhhh keep it between us. ;)

Edit: You obviously add the extra arm actuator its just Smurfy always removes it when you save....

6 more DHS are not to be undervalued, once you reach heat cap you can cool down much faster. Also it has JJs and it's faster. More armor too but that's normal with 10T more of weight.

The JJ advantage is huge !

And let's also not forget 42 vs 56 alpha. To me, it's a really close match.

Yes, your LPL/SL build is better, gonna change that one :p

At shorter range, longer duration and worse heat build up. ;)

That said the nerf to the 5SS MPL heat generation bonus hurt that gorgeous build a lot. Thanks clan and "general bonus" whiners...

I agree: shorter range trades for speed and JJs, duration trades with higher damage, and heat build with more DHS. First I'd take IS one anyday, now I'd probably take the timber for normal game, but still think TDR is better for CW (10T less for basically the same mech)

I just want to report back and say OMG! 3 games today over 1000K I'm SO glad I stuck with this thing to figure it out. (Granted these are PUGs, but still...wow).

Bump to the build that started it all. Typical TBR builds nowadays run 2LPL+3ERML.

The TBR-A just became available for $ and has the Left Torso with 3 HIGH mounted energy hardpoints. Here is what the latest bit of nasty brings to the table:

    5/5,
Any LPL+ERML build is the best combination for a TBR

Here is a comparison of the 2LPL+3ERML with and without the negative quirks. They both use the "D" Left Arm for a -5% heat generation.

Also, considering this build is the current TBR meta build for competitive teams, I decided to paint it appropriately with mountain dew and Doritos. MLG BRUH!

    4/5,
Pretty hot, but still one of the better builds on the good ol' Timby.

Perhaps there is a revival with the upcoming nerfs to clan lasers (max. 4x cERML, 1x cHLL), as it will heavily hit the Hellbringer as #1 laser vomit clan heavy mech?

If I had the TBR-WAR, I would try something like this:

(25DHS should run pretty cool for the lasers, SRMs as close range addition and because harpoints/tons to spare)

    5/5,
Clan laser vomit isn't what it used to be, and timberwolves aren't meta anymore, but this build can still do some work. I go for 2xJJ's:

    and skills:

With 2xJJ's you actually can do a laser pop tart, although it is very difficult.

Hardpoints are lower than on the Ebon Jag and Hellbringer, but the TBR brings jump jets to the table.
