I decided to give Brutal Fury's "Synergy" loadout a whirl some time ago and found it to be quite excellent. This is a different take on that particular build, using two large lasers and one PPC instead of the one/two combo found on that guy. Identical heat efficiency and armor but the little bit of weight lost from swapping one PPC out allows the engine to be slightly upgraded. Also similar to Blagg Zear's Powerbolt but without an XL engine and missiles. The LLs and PPC are split between the high hardpoints in the two side torsos, allowing you to still have a long range weapon if you happen to lose one of your sides. The small lasers are there to use when you are within the minimum PPC range or if your heat is a little high. Since outfitting my SS with this build (or other builds similar to this) it's quickly become one of my most effective heavy mechs: over 400 average damage per game and over 4000 damage per hour. Overall, it's one hell of a tough energy boat. Moving pictures included below:
Seeing as you usually tend to engage at a distance, think about dropping the two Small Lasers for an extra DHS. This would reduce your weapon groups and allow you a few more seconds of long range firing before overheating.
But then you don't have the beautiful red pewpew! Personally running the Synergy build to great effect but I like this variant. I tried Watchman's version but with ERLL instead of LL, just to stay a bit more at range, but I prefer 2xPPC 1xERLL as long range. 1xERLL is excellent to use while 'cooling down', while 1 PPC is just a bit too hot, even though the 2xERLL give less of a spike than 2xPPC. I'm tempted to try the Prism build but afraid I won't use the small lasers much.
