https://mwomercs.com/viper The reinforcement package has a 1E ct variant, and if you get that and the hero, you can have 11 energy slots. Mini-Nova anyone?
1) In before Pay to Win complaints about the Hero having the pew-pew arms. 2) Trying to theorycraft this thing and keep flipflopping thinking this will be more like a mini-Summoner than a mini Nova and then back again. Sure, that's a lot of hardpoints, but all the vipers are locked into having 4 tons (and just as importantly, 8 slots, 2 in each torso see: #TumblerWelfProblems) of JJss and packing that 320 engine to boot. Otoh, filling out the 40 ton slot for Clans gives quite a bit of lee-way in the way the JIICs have for being heavier than other Clan lights, and the Cicada has for being the lightest IS medium, but then you see good mix of available hardpoints and AMS, but then slot restrictions, etc., etc.
Well, I am more interested to see if you can swap the pewpew arms for other mech variants, and if you can buy those arms separately. If not I may have to buy a few of those heros and gut them for the arms, mostly for the C variant with energy hardpoint. Technically speaking you can have 9xcSL on this mech, or some combination laser there of, which is ok. On the other hand, there are other options. There is minimal tonnage to work with, so yeah you can have things like 9xcMPL... NOT! You have like 4-5 tons to work with only when you are at full armor. Basically you are barely better than the Ice fagrat, better hardpoints than fagrat but much less tonnage to work with even. It would be p2w if the hero only packing 4 JJ. (Probably should not give them ideas) What I am worry is that future clan hero mech would make us buy multiple versions, one for hero collection and a few for gutting omnipods.
Really hoping they make it where owning the base variant unlocks the pods for C-Bills purchase, but I'm afraid they're going to make the actual pods cost MC individually or follow the "buy as a set or none" model ><;
Dragonfly already sucked in TT. 40t is a lackluster weight, and that's diplomatic speaking here. Why should it excel in MWO?
Meta viper will be 5 smpls all torso mounted. Basically a cicada loyalty variant but not as shitty. Or 6 slas all in right side (CT and right that is). Won't be a bad mech unless the hitboxes are utter trash, but it will only have 1 role. I'm definitely not paying money for pretty much a light mech though hahaha.
Well, we've got our first look at a hero Omnimech... and of course, it's in a package deal. I'm more surprised that they didn't give us the Timber Wolf they hinted at when they first looked at doing hero Clan mechs. Perhaps that will come out before this, alongside the Butterbee, but I doubt it. I'd be happy to see new variants and Heroes for old mechs, though. We've got chassis with only three variants, then you hit things like the Locust with SEVEN. Things need to be a touch more balanced out... and we need more variety in lights, IMO. Now, to focus moreso on the Viper: Meh. Not my preference by far. I'm still probably gonna pick 'em up for Pokemech sake, but.... there are plenty of other mechs, both IS and Clan, that I would have preferred to see. Although, people shouldn't be writing it off because of the lack of weight & space - I can do pretty well with an SRM4/ERSL setup on the Ice Ferret, so... depending on hitboxes, the Viper might be better.
I'm happy to see the Viper because that means there is only one more Clan mech from the first 16 left to go: the Fire Moth. I'd love to see the Mad Cat II as the clans first Omni 90 ton mech. Fingers crossed for that one.
Honestly, I don't get why PGI don't just make custom c-bill variants for mechs. They did it for the IICs, after all... why not other things? As a sidenote to this whole additional variant thing... am I the only person that wants the Hunchback 4N? You know, the one with the AC5 and LRM 5s in the hunch? Not ballistics on one side, missiles on the other... both on the one. Because that sounds ridiculous, hard to build for... and fun.
have i being dupped? http://www.sarna.net/wiki/images/thumb/c/c6/Dragonfly_2.jpg/626px-Dragonfly_2.jpg
Different drawing styles I think. Seems like it is not as tiny as the 'crow, but not as big as the Nova either. Below is the model version:
