It sucks. Easiest multiplayer game I've ever played.

Cons: Hardly any color at all in the palette---which at least MWO has dark colors to go with the gray, this is just ALL gray. No recoil, no need to learn weapons, no weight to the Titans, no space for the Titans to move, cramped maps whether on foot or in a Titan, etc. Matches are far too short, round downtime far too long.

Pros: The parkour is awesome! Fun as hell to run along one wall then jump to the next and into windows or on top of a Titan and destroy it. Excellent tutorial and very well polished in terms of presentation and balance.

I have quite a few friends elsewhere in the world who were just as interested in this game as I was and sent them a message today:
That's my take. How about you?

I feel like veteran Mech players will feel that way- whether Armoured Core or Mechwarrior. However, for the generic FPS COD BF whosum, it's an introduction to a new style of warfare- one where you actually have to worry about an enemy who's vastly bigger than you and stronger than you. Anyone who's played a Mech game for an appreciable length of time will have tried using a Scout or Light mech of some sort, and so has that experience, and knows what to look for- dodging past the enemy instead of backpedaling, keeping up momentum (something that's almost alien to players of cover-based shooters)- even the concept of allies as something that blocks your own shots...

Don't think of it as a Mech game, or as an FPS. It's a Gateway Game- it has enough hand-holding (no friendly fire, rapid movement, lack of recoil, lock on weapons) to pull in people who might be put off by the simulator-ness of most Mecha games, but also has that pull of giant stompy robots.

Even TB, someone who's played (I think) Mechwarrior games, who's played a lot of different game archetypes, says there's an advantage to anyone who's used to playing games that incorporate non-standard movement, because there's that 'second part' of the game that breaks the FPS standard.

i was watching a youtube video of it for a while - seems waaaayyy to hectic, made even worse by the blah-ness of the colors/buildings. I never got into quake type games because it's all too ADD. Normal FPS for single player games are fine and CounterStrike and MWO are fine for multiplayer, but fuck that titanfall/cod/bf noise.

For people who think the visuals are bad, remember, most footage captured was from an XBOX ONE, not a PC. I've had the opportunity to view the game at 60 fps with max settings for the beta, and it is very beautiful. I would compare the visuals to a Halo Reach style, with too much white smoke. I can't wait to play it, as a FPS person, I can't wait to use the skills from Hawken, MWO, and Tribes to my advantage.

You might use you CoD skills much more.
Haven't play it yet (looks like the beta will soon be fully open, I'll try if I get Origin to work) but what I saw does not impress me a lot. Even if at first the parkour + giant robot combo raised my attention. But it looks like Crysis and lot of other games that bore me in 30 minutes (when they just don't disgust me by their "oh I'm such a l33t manly futuristic soldier" fashion).

My twitch reflexes and situation awareness are much better suited to the slower pace of MWO. TTK on a pilot outside their titan is absurdly low. I go down in a couple hits and it's frustrating. The best I can say for it is that respawn is pretty fast. The titans feel good though. Decent movement and good durability. I can tank a few hits and come back swinging. Not the game for me I think, but I'm going to keep playing the beta and see if it grows on me. Hawken did.

Initial impression: Big Daddies... Big Daddies everywhere!

Fast-paced game that will appeal to me like Counter-Strike used to. I have a feeling it will get old pretty fast unless they release new content frequently. Games will be quick and repetitive with a very arcade game feel.

Meh, not worth the money IMO, but I can see the appeal.

I can, too, and that's why I think it will change things a bit between the big two FPS franchises. I played a bunch more (might as well) and my overall impressions are still the same. No reason to run around with anything except the smart pistol and with how the maps are laid out you can effectively take on 3 or 4 Titans by yourself and win. Although after getting a bunch of the Burn Cards I would say that they go to the "Pros" list as they help mix up the gameplay.

    I've always seen it as
Western Europe - France, Spain, Germany and friends
Northern Europe - Scandinavia and Finland
    And Britain is just Britain.

Now now... the game would be much better then if we are all running around like little girls with syringes.

As a side note, I guess this is where a lot of the people who made the original Modern Warfare went after the fiasco with the second one.

Mmh know a few people loving the game but I'd liken it more to Hawken or another FPS shooter.

Frenetic pace, split second decisions and huge mobility - the difference in that franchise is they've linked in robots so you have two play styles/tactical approaches in one.

MWO is different in that its always struck me as a very thoughtful and paced game. Its one time I'd say slow is good but sure that most FPS players would disagree.

That said its clear from the appaling targetting of many players in MWO they've not grown up on harsher FPS games. ;)

I decided to try out Titanfall since a lot of my friends picked it up for the PC. I have to say, I've been enjoying the game a lot! The campaign mode is a bit silly and pointless re-telling of the same predictable story, but the game is all about the multiplayer anyway so who cares (same with the Battlefield series).

Another reason I picked it up is because of the pace. It is the polar opposite of MWO, which is the only game I've been playing 90% of the time. Titanfall is so fluid, fast, and mobile that it satisfies a lot of what you don't get in MWO.

That being said, transitioning from MWO to Titanfall frustrated the hell out of me. I haven't played a face-paced shooter for over a year now (Battlefield 3), but that wasn't it. The hit registration was abysmal in Titanfall! It make MWO look like the best coded game in the market IMO and that made me giggle a bit and appreciate the game we have. In other words, Titanfall reminded me that MWO is such a fantastic and fun game. However, the fast pace of Titanfall immediately makes up for any short-comings; if you die, you respawn very quickly back into the game. So if a flying jumpkick from your opponent looked and felt like utter BS, especially on the replay, you get over it quickly because you're immediately back in the game and perhaps your are now hunting down that opponent to snap his neck .

The titan warfare is fun and different. They did a good job capturing the movement of the giant robots and separating the different chassis. The titan firefights I find a bit lacking because of MWO's being so damn good mainly, but it works.

The weapon balance for titans is a bit laughable as the 40mm is the only weapon you will ever need to be very successful, the others are interesting, but don't have enough of an advantage to make them extremely dominant over the 40mm in any situation for the most part. This is one of my biggest disappointments actually. For example: The rail gun. The base weapon has it's niche because it deals an insane amount of damage after a long charge-up. When you progress with that weapon you eventually unlock a "upgrade" called "instant shot" which makes the charge-up instantaneous, but deals much less damage. The rail gun to begin with doesn't have very many shots, and the firing rate is pretty slow. An UPGRADED rail gun now does LESS damage, SLOWER fire, and 1/4 the ammo capacity as the 40mm... In addition, the rail gun must hit infantry dead-on perfectly for it damage/kill them. The 40mm has explosive damage and only needs to hit the general area. Accuracy is the only niche for the rail gun at that point, or at least it is supposed to be. The 40mm is perfectly accurate at any long-range in the game, so the added accuracy for the rail gun is meaningless as an advantage. So basically an UPGRADED rail gun makes it and extremely dumbed down 40mm... makes absolutely no sense.

Overall it's a good break from MWO and they compliment eachother nicely. It puts MWO into perspective for me. Many of the things we complain about are much worse in your typical AAA game.

You've nailed the reason I rarely complain madly about MWO - I play otehr FPS games with friends and just try to appreciate bits of all of them. ;)

Yes I have niggles with MWO but nothing thats a game breaker or I can't get around using tactics.

There's nothing inheritantly WRONG with the game. Anyone who thinks that a game designed SOLELY for the purpose of multiplayer is going to be extremely polished doesn't understand the inner workings of the game design/development process. This game was, is and (for the time being) will always be an arcade game. This is NOT a video game (a game with a driving story and mechanics). It's meant to simply be fun to play. Which is why the first piece of DLC for the game is Optimus Prime and he looks horrible. There's no clans or factions because it is just that...an arcade game. The only thing I think is justified in saying that it's a negative...is that it costs $50-$60.
