Speed and wubwub. Nuth said. You get the best speed and range. Yes, this is actually quite tanky. The slower and cooler approach, I rather take the speed.
I would personally keep it symmetric because of the STD engine. Plus, the top mount on the LT isn't really that low.... In fact, none of the hardpoints on the TDR are really that low. Another benefit of having one in the LT is for peeking left. because the cockpit is on the left shoulder, putting most of your damage on the RT is bad for left-side peeking.
Probably either all left or all right for peeking rather than symmetric. I will try lefthander approach also, and see how it goes.
