20 dollar three variant standard package, 40 dollar "special". Standard 60 engine developed just for the Urbie, 360° torso twist. Pre-order on Jan. 20th. All clan mechs save the Hellbringer (no clue why) will be getting new variants. Including the Dire Wolf S: the Jumping whale. From a convenient Reddit post: http://www.reddit.com/r/OutreachHPG/comments/2sld0i/urbanmech_confirmed_by_russ/
I'm gonna go with no. Not because I refuse to support PGI but because of two different reasons... Reason #1: [They haven't sunk the money in to development yet. Meaning they have like zero venture capital to spend on this. That is a bad sign and a bad position for a company to be in but that is a separate Thesis all together]. My previous comment to this is based on the assumption that the mech is not yet done. If it is? Then I take this back but reason 2 still applies. Reason #2: I already have a ton of mechs that were once great and then got hit with the nerf bat. Why would I spend money on a mech that is getting hit with the Lore Nerf Bat right from the factory? That is like going to a restaurant and paying for a plate of poo.
Urbanmech is complete and ready to go, however Russ stated he wasn't really sure if the community actually wants the Urbanmech or not. That is why the pre-order.
Fair enough but that doesn't make any sense from a business standpoint. Why would you sink venture capital in to a project and then not sell it; regardless of what the sales volumes were you are getting some sort of ROI. Returning money because it isn't selling like hotcakes would be silly. Someone needs to take that man to Business and Economics 101.
I think it may be that they have a good chunk of the work on the Urbanmech done, and want to see how sales do before they commit to going all the way. If people are actually serious about wanting the Urbanmech, it will become a thing. 20 bucks is pretty easy on the wallet. I don't think it will get nerfed however. Adding cool stuff onto shit leaves you with decorated shit. The Urbanmech was much maligned for a reason, and I don't see how the hell it will be anything more than a mech for the lols.
Well, look at the upside. Every time there's an Urbie, you won't have Assaults getting left behind. Comparatively.
$40 sounds a bit steep. Other packages have been $20-$30 per mech for the same thing, and I thought that was a bit steep, personally. This is especially true of a 30-ton mech.
Lets see if the quiks on that thing are along the lines of say 75% AC20 cooldown and +50% AC20 range and some kind of heat quirk for the AC20 as well. Add that to 360° torso twist and you have a small walking AC20 machinegun turret
This... Lets be honest the quirks make the mechs nowadys in so many cases... like last night with my 8 and 6 kill battles in the DRG-1N... what were the odds of that before - achievable but low? Not hiding that I loathe the Urbanmech from TT tbh or see a role for any non Spider 30 tonner in game but having mechs that force you to try your hardest isn't necessarily a bad thing. Too many easy to perform in well mechs nowadays that allow their pilots to pretend they're "l33t". I'll buy it but thats mainly because I have nothing to work for atm until the Resistance pack comes out and grinding c-bills is awful.
The DireWhale C variant carries ECM... unless it is CT mounted this might turn into a must have for most whales.
Let's face it. He *KNOWS* people would get the urbie, if only for the sake of it. That, and it is not really hard to make an urbie... just a model really. Probably got fixed engine to go with it, with minimal movement parts. The so called development is just a model and the standard paintjob.
Found this in a summary thread on the offical forums. http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/186354-town-hall-summary/page__view__findpost__p__4103642 Based on that information we will be looking at a: Dire Wolf C (JJ & ECM) Timberwolf D. Unsure about the arms mountings. Sarna has them listed in the side torsos, it could potentially being boating 3M slots in each torso as it has two forward facing and one rear facing in each side torso. Mad-Dog at a guess will be the C which caries dual guass and nothing else.. The above is purely speculation and conjecture of course.
