I'm still at work for another 2.5 hrs plus 0.5 hr driving time on top of at least 1 hrs of working out so at least 4 more hrs for me.

I think you can relax a bit, there's some issues.

1, I managed to build a Timber Wolf build and save it, it took ages though as many ppl were probably doing the same thing.
2, I went looking for some missing modules and found them on my 5D that I used just prior to server maintenance, tried stripping them but got "Save failed" when I tried that. Then I tried removing a module from my Timber Wolf Build. Same thing.
3, Then I see MWOMercs page is down.
4, I managed to launch the testing grounds but upon exit, I am spinning in "Connection".

Conclusion: This didn't go so well for the patch and server maintenance.

It never does. I'm not too worried about it I'll have plenty of time to play tonight and in the future as well. If I was really excited I might skip my workout but it is leg day so you can't skip that.

Meh, no Clans for me until C-Bill availability. But I've been keeping up in IS tech:

Meh, didn't have time to drop anything but myself into bed. It took too long until it was playable...but tonight it seems things are working again. :)

    And all using poptarts... ;)

Bears out what I was saying on PTS that as long as people can poptart the IS will dominate that side. As soon as you bring it to brawling... (presuming no clans overheating) then the shadowhawks, victors, 3D's get dumped down very hard.

The interesting thing will be seeing how balances change when people are more used to clan weaponry and quirks as a lot of people are just packing whatever gives them most hardpoints.

Most of the clan mechs seem far more orientated towards working together as lances whereas my IS poptarts are eminently soloable.

I'm piloting a Blackjack, not a Victor. Trust me, I don't have a lot of advantages other than the best possible example of what it is like piloting this mech:

Every BJ-1 I see which racks up the kills spends most of their time in the air using a point damage weapon like an AC20.

What do you use on yours?

I think it took me 1.5 hours to strip all 24 clan mechs with the crazy long save times (until the very end when PGI did something around 10-11pm Central US). Then 30 minutes to build 3 kit foxes and saving them (and probably another hour coming up with builds for them). Didn't drop in a single game last night :(

Came up with my 1st and 2nd tries for each Kitfox build though:
    1a. [KIT FOX-PRIME]: CERLL, 2xCERML, 3xCAMS, CECM, 13DHS (can drop 1 dhs for TC1)
    http://goo.gl/vTctQX
    1b. [KIT FOX-PRIME]: 2xCERLL, CERML, 2xCAMS, CECM, 12DHS (can drop erml or 1 ams for TC1)
    http://goo.gl/7zYzWZ

2a. [KIT FOX-S]: CLPL, 2xCERML, CAMS, 2xCMG, CECM, 3JJ, 11DHS (can drop 1 JJ and armor or DHS for TC1)
    http://goo.gl/zh1Mr0
    2b. [KIT FOX-S]: 2xCERLL, CECM, 2JJ, 14DHS (or 13dhs + 1erml, or 13dhs -.5tarmor/1jj for AMS+1t)
    http://goo.gl/CMCkLI

    3a. [KIT FOX-D]: 2xCSSRM6, 2xCSRM6, 10DHS
    http://goo.gl/r6Oq3g
3b. [KIT FOX-D]: 2xCLRM15, CECM, CTAG, 10DHS (can drop tag for erml)

Seen a few of the dual ER LL/ECM/JJ variants as it counters the slow speed and gives flexibility.

It took me about an hour to build two mechs I was happy with (took 3 iterations on the prime, going into testing grounds inbetween). I got stomped in the first game I played. You cannot make a mistake walking in front of a firing line of clan mechs right now. All of them are heavy alpha builds with sixteen weapons on each arm and an itchy trigger finger.

I started to patch the client at about 7:00pm and got into 4 matches before midnight EST.

    I settled on
    TBR-Prime "Tusker" (4xC-SRM+A6, 4xC-ERMLas, 2xC-MG, 3xJJ) [PPSSPPPP]
    TBR-S "C-Lighthunter" (2xC-ERLLas, 4xC-SSRM6, Active Probe, 2xJJ) [SSSSSSSS]

    Code:
Mech	Mode	Damage	Kills	Assists	Match Score	Death	W/L	Map Mechs
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    TBR-P	s	280	1	2 34	#4	x	L	canyon 4-12
    a	595	2	10 87	#2 W	caustic 12-5
    s	749	3	8	106	#1 W	caustic 12-3

    TBR-S	a	638	3	6 91	#2 W	crimson 12-6

    (No strikes used.)

What a blast! Had tons of fun but I'm not fully happy with either build.
    - I need to either change the weapon groupings and split the lasers or change them to LLas on one arm. I'm constantly shooting into the side of the hill as it is.
    - The 7.7sec cooldown on the SSRM24 mech is way too slow for my tastes. I was launching an alpha and then looking for a place to hide for the next 5 seconds before getting ready to find another open shot. I think I would rather go down to 4xSSRM4 and upgrade the lasers to pulse.

And obviously so, everyone is aiming at the side torsos on the timberwolf. All but one of the matches I played I lost at least half my mech. As cheesy as it is, I am buying the radar deprivation module as soon as I can afford the 6mil cbills. Tons of LRMs out there right now and they are much more pinpoint than IS LRMs.

Yeah I changed to either straight SRM's or SSRM 4's on my SRM boats. SSRM 6's only really worked chained or where I could peep a boo. o_O

Ran two Dire Wolf builds last night.

The first was 8 C-ERLLas. Lots of fun and very heat efficient

The second was 6 C-ERPPC. I found this build to be more effective than the C-ERLLas boat, at least my games were better.

The two builds are very easy to swap around, so i'll be running them both pretty often for my DWF-B

Had a great game in my GRF-1N(P) yesterday. Despite taking *several* attempts to get games in. (I think in a two or three hour time span, my buddy and I got in four.) SRMs are most certainly back.

I'm almost scared to ask but ... what triggers were you using and how many double heat sinks?

8 C-ERLLas has 30 C-DHS and a Mk.II Targeting Computer (does nothing now, but will improve the weapons a bit eventually). As seen on the build thread, the groups were Left Arm chain fire and Right arm chain fire. You can hold down both triggers at once and let it cycle through perfectly. Or you can tap them faster for more DPS (and heat). You'd be surprised how many times you can shoot an ERLLas in this thing. It's insane.

6 C-ERPPC has 29 C-DHS. Similar to the other build, the triggers are Left Arm chain fire and Right Arm chain fire. On 1/2 the maps you can Hold down both triggers and stay just under overheat shutdown (assuming it's mastered). Most of the time I was firing in 2 controlled bursts of 2 (4 shots total). Realizing this, i'm looking into a new build using only 4 C-ERPPC and using the save tonnage for something else, perhaps another Targeting Computer build... not sure yet. The War Hawk Prime would work very well if you only keep the 4 C-ERPPC and max out the C-DHS.

Both build cool down extremely fast once the mech is mastered. The symmetrical builds with such large weapons makes it less painful to lose one side of your mech. It's better to lose half of your weapons and keep fighting than to lose that giant CT!

Had so much fun with these energy boats, but no super-great games yet. Most were decent, especially in the C-ERPPC build. I didn't want to stop playing!

3 Mediums and an AC20. Tried out every other ballistic combination and nothing works better, though there are fun builds to be made otherwise. Again, the mech isn't some beast mode tank, so there's really no reason to suggest a DPS build for something fragile

Also, suggesting that this mech is like a leaf in the wind and everyone watches as it soars is incorrect. I've got a single jump jet on the AC20 version and I think 3 with the ERLL and PPC version I use periodically. The Blackjack's strength is circle-strafing with periodic jumps to spread damage or sudden changes of direction, like this---skip to 5:21
    ugjV0yN4OcE?t=5m21s

But certainly not flying like a Spider. I learned a while ago that less jump jets is a good thing and I prefer to keep my feet on the ground as often as I can, unless under fire.
