Someone brought up an interesting topic in another post about some general stats and his play being 'average'. I'm curious to see the spread on what us reasonably dedicated players achieve. I almost never look at the pgi stats, but I did after this comment. It's interesting to validate what I feel are my best mechs and usually I'm right, but there are also some interesting ones that rise to the top that surprise me. There are a lot of possible stats, but I personally feel average damage is the best stat that we have easy access to from the PGI forum. Win/Loss I find meaningless because PGI actively tries to get 50%, KDR is an okay metric, but once again, is easily manipulated by the playstyle of yourself and/or the mech loadout. So, that leaves us with Average Damage - even this has pitfalls for those that precisely shoot at components vs an lrmboat for example, but whatever. I'll make a poll for each class, but if you care to take the time to pull your stats out of the PGI forum, what is your BEST MECH in this class' average damage (take "Damage Done" divided by "Matches Played"). FYI, if you don't know, you can log into http://mwomercs.com/forums/, click profile in the top right, then click stats, then mech stats... I copy/pasted the table into Excel and then did the calc Damage Done / Matches played and sorted
My Ilya Muromets has far and away my highest damage output with 430 DMG/round over 105 rounds played. The rest of my direct fired based heavies are all huddled right around 300 DMG/round, while my missile based mechs are around the 200-250 mark.
My heavies are no better than my mediums. Ilya Muromets gets 300 damage a match. I blame is low damage on the fact that I was a surgeon with the old Gauss mechanic. I've learned something through all of this. Dakka is your friend.
97 games in on my K2, just over 250 in damage, 1.0 KDR. 69 games in on my C1 Cat, just over 300 damage, 2.55 KDR. Jumping missile cat is my best, I just don't run it enough. Probably should more.
Just over 300 average in my Ilya, with 101 games. This is largely due to my strategy: Take a critical component or two, leave the kill to an ally. If I blow up a leg and an arm they're not much threat anymore, and I get several "component destruction" bonuses. If I let an ally kill them I get a "kill assist" instead of a "kill" and that pays much better. This is a stupid reward system, but I'll milk it for all it's worth. If we figure that mechs range from 40 to 110 hp on the center torso, and an average of about 65 hp, 780 damage would be enough to kill the entire enemy team if you can aim only at front center torsos. Lights can often get to and hit the rear torso easily, and so will have less damage done for the same number of kills. Anything over about 800 damage done means your aim needs work, or you're trying for the "club of 1000+". And in a typical match your team should do damage, so you really shouldn't have over 300-500 damage if you're going for kill shots.
Whomever is averaging over 500 dmg in they heavy and assault category - leave me the f alone if you see me in a game  Or, if you only have 3 games played in it, disregard
Agreed, this is also why highest average doesn't mean best player. You're either roflstomping, don't have enough games played to even out your average, have some sort of palsy where you can't keep your mouse tracking, you're just a mwo machine, or some combination of the above. I think my few 1000+ games were either UAC5 or lrmboat. I wish PGI gave a way to track their end-of-round 'match score' as that seems to somehow combine dmg with kills/assists. Also, I'd imagine the REALLY skilled players probably have more average scores - when you're playing mostly premades and at that level of ELO, you're not going to just destroy another team giving massive amounts of damage to affect your average like that - your opponents and teammembers are just as good at giving damage (and probably pinpointing the vast majority of it) so 300-400 dmg is probably great and everyone on the team is doing that, not like pugging where 4 of the 12 do less than 100dmg.
JM6-DD with 447dmg (21 matches, 9403dmg) For a 50 match minimum, though, it drops quite a bit: Ilya is my next highest with 361dmg average (435 matches (!!!), 157,286dmg)
CTF-4X with 666 average damage per round for 48 matchs. Quad-AC/5 is just incredible for dealing damage.
I suck with heavy mechs, apparently. My highest average is in my Thud 5SS. 272 damage, so on the low end of the scale. Only sixteen games in with a W/L of .78 an average of .94 kills per game and a K/D of 1.67. My winningest mech is my Firebrand at a W/L of 1.45 and 130 matches in it. (Though only 249 damage average. )
JM6-DD: 288.5 (61298/92) JM6-S: 287.4 (60591/112) I don't think it's gonna be a big surprise to see mostly ballistic heavies at the top of these lists... the S also happens to be my W/L leader @ 1.67...
