Long time lurker, decided to make an account and post up an idea. Before the Clan mechs were released I had quite a lot of fun with the dual Gauss Jaeger's and Catapult K2's. Having a bit of nostalgia over the weekend, and having my 3 Warhawks in my hanger I decide to mess around with smurfy to recreate that old gauss magic, I also chucked on some SRMs for additional firepower when enemies close in on you, or you get one of the smaller "brawl" oriented maps. This is more of a theoretical build, but I'll get around to building it and giving it a whirl sometime soon. (You could make this on the WHK-A using the WHK-B right side torso, but using the WHK-A right side torso gives you a 10% cool-down on those SRMs.) Alt WHK-A build without the 10% SRM cool-down bonus. Do you think dual gauss hawk is viable? Maybe drop the SRMs completely for more gauss ammo? Thoughts?
I like the idea. You can really put some hurt on an Assault mech, but you can't hurt light's. But your a sniper, and your faster than a Direwolf. A+ on the idea, but I can't testify for it in practice.
Yeah I know what you mean. The SRMs will help slightly against lights, but much like a Jaeger you're basically having to get a good hit point blank with the gauss to take them out. On the plus side, you don't have to worry about loosing an XL torso like the IS dual gauss build and you're not slow as a snail. Also you have a pretty good amount of armour. I only wish I could drop those heat sinks for more gauss ammo. Edit: Toned down the SRMs a little to squeeze in some more gauss ammo as that is the main role of this build really.
