Well, he would be that good... BUT the question should be: Is he willing to spend the time? Remember, personality and playstyle is an important part. Some people just aren't the type to enjoy a slow lumber giant of death, while some cannot stand the being inside one of those quick and fragile lethan demons. So, in the end, it is like choosing your coffee/pet/girlfriend/porn/sock. It has to be right for you.
Well I inherited my cat from my daughter actually though she swore she would look after it, pay the vet bills etc when we said ok to her mental blackmail.
I still love the Dragon, even after all this time. Even though its CT is as big as a barn door. Even though it has no JJs. I'm a huge fan of the Nova, even though I usually do miserably.
I'd have to say it's my Highlanders. I loved them before the poptart craze, and it pains me to say I still love them now. They perform very sadly though, hopefully the quirks will help make them playable again.
I keep playing my AC40 Firebrand because it's just fun. Only 50rnds in the hopper and not terribly quick, along with an XL that kills you at the drop of a hat. It's just too damn fun to fire a broadside into a light that peeks its head above a rise and watch it topple over dead. Or brawl with bigger mechs and give them the old one-two with the cannons and then twist like mad to try and keep your ST's alive. Jaeger-DD is the first mech I bought and so maybe its just that I got good at them or notstalgia or something. I'm certainly not the best pilot and I've tried lots of Jaeger (and other) builds but I keep coming back to the AC40. Maybe I'm just an ass.
Actually, most of the time I drop with mine I've got the enemy team whining I'm a noob using an OP build (they're not completely wrong)
Lol. Only problem with an AC20 Firebrand is that everyone primaries you. In fact lets be honest I just primary every JM6 and CTF I see.
Boomjager is best jager. I wonder if any of the quirks will make our favorite jager build better >.> I"m guessing not though, probably focus more on AC2/5 builds.
If I read it right Russ just mentioned on twitter that the negative quirks are gone for the Highlander.
Speaking of "you need to love your ride to make it perform", I've spend my whole morning dropping on an Awesome-9M. Good fun, and such a great underrated mech.
The quirks they gave it really gave it a new lease of life. Doing the last trio was distinctly fun relative to the original trio I did.
Honestly, I hated my Summoners at first...but then, as I mastered them, I started to really enjoy the chassis. Two out of the 5 1000+ game posts for SMN are from me, which I'm proud of They can be nasty SRM/SSRM boats to brawl with, quite capable PPC skirmisher/harassers, and serviceable LRM boats as well. I have each variant set up for a different type of combat, and I've found a genuine love for the chassis as well, so if you spend the time to get to know them, you'll likely not regret it if you have strong feelings for it already. Just know that, in most cases (except maybe SRM/SSRM boat), you won't want to go head to head with most other heavy mechs. You can really dish it out, but the Summoner is not the best at absorbing damage.
I ended up buying the storm crow as I'm more of a medium pilot but the next chassis I buy with cbills will be Summoner. Good to see people making it work really well.
For some strange reason I still love the Com-1B. Love to pilot it and just be an annoyance. My favorite mech of all time isn't in the game yet. So PGI; when are we getting the Annihilator? Would just love to walk one around a corner right into the face of a dire whale and alpha strike insta crit it's center torso.
The Annihilator is a Wolf's Dragoons/Clan Mech so good luck as no non omni ones supposed to be coming in a long time.
Gausszillaaaaaaaa! Piloted the 4 Gauss Annihilator in Solaris two days ago against 4 stock Annis..... they never saw it coming.
I am still loving my HBK-4P. I hadn't it played in over a year, then in August I decided to take it out again, and it is so much fun. It's now back in my regular rotation of mechs when I want to run a medium, which is basically down to the SHD-2H(P) which I run when I want to farm cbills, and the Nova which I run for shits and giggles. I keep trying out different configurations, but keep coming back to the tried and tested 9x MLas build.
Think you can fit quite a few rotary AC on that also, the dakka lord of death. Also, if you don't mind the heat... cAC20.
