I didn't manage to get a screenshot (could swear I did, but the damn thing didn't save)...but I saw a Banshee with 5 TAGs on it. So I made a gif of this instead, since it's about the same Source
Ok, what's with all the horrible Atlas builds out lately? *sigh* I know, people got the free Atlas-S, and had to buy and equip the rest as well. But seriously, these are the best builds they could come up with? (the targeted one) (the spectated one) and yes, that's a Medium Pulse Laser
You all love the new reward system ... that build plays to it and is future proof to the exploit fix coming on Tuesday.
The DDC looks pretty good for getting the Tag Damage rewards, so it's basically a Cbill farmer, though I'd replace the MPL and AMS with an ERLL.
I've seen a lot of mechs with terrible builds lately too(not just Atlas). Some of it has to be cbill farming, but a lot of these players do terrible and can't be making much. My personal theory is a lot of new players have come in in the last few months and don't quite know how to make a good build or how to use it. They remind me of me in my first Battlemaster with two ER large lasers and two medium lasers. Yeah, it sucked and so did I.
I can post the screenie when I get back to my home PC, but I saw another good one...Cent-AH with nothing but an AC20. Why!? You could fit so much more!
Because the one critical weakness of the AH is a lack of AC20 ammo. I have 28 or 31 rounds and run out in every battle. With the cooldown module you run through ammo so fast its scary but do a lot of damage in a short time. Am contemplating dropping my SRM ammo even further. Coincidentally if he went STD engine you really do just go with the single AC20. Overall its a poor mans Yen lo Wang as the 2 energy slots in the CT add so much to the longevity of the mech. Don't get me wrong its a good mech but I really miss the energy as backup. Post the quirk changes I'll be dropping the support weaponry as your ammo needs will be insane and IS AC20 vs paired SRM 4's is no contest imo. You definitely won't have enough ammo for TWO weapons with -20% cooldown bonuses, particularly if one has the -12.5% cooldown cooldown module if you want to maintain a mediums speed. That said... *cough* Cataphract 2X.
I dunno...I'm never a fan of having a single weapon on a mech, regardless of ammo reasons Something happens to that weapon, and you're just done. Closest I allow myself is something like my 3L, which has one DPS weapon, plus a TAG and NARC on it...but it's a supporter anyway
Well the advantage is you can shield with everything else and it gets even better an approach with the new quirks due to the armour/structure bonuses. Yes it has a big disadvantage - vulnerability. But it also has advantages including reduced visibility and the ability to fire from cover/through gaps. Then the design advantages of being able to focus on one weapon - e.g. armor sacrifices are easy to make as you can shield or zombie mode with most of your mech, More ammo or heatsinks to keep your primary weapon firing etc. If i was playing conquest I'd not really hesitate as much as you can always go cap. In skirmish the dynamics change as you need longevity. I rarely regret it in mediums as speed is your armour imo anyway. One of my nova builds uses it a lot with 2 ER PPC's so I can poptart and peep unimpeded while firing almost continuously. As I've said before of course the main downside is actually that when you peep out of cover you're making that arm vulnerable as you can't use the rest of your body to shield.
It might be OK as long as you don't have the YLW. I'm not even sure: are people building "poor mans Oxides" on their JR7-D with 4 SRM4s only? Nop, they use the other hardpoints. It's not like there was a shortage of mediums able to mount an AC/20 that you had to use this variant specifically.
