Original "Terminator" Version Alternate "Super-Ammo" Version by downgrading Engine Alternate "AMS" Version by downgrading Engine: Alternate "MG" Version: Guide Table of Contents - Introduction - Pros & Cons - Weaponloadout - Gameplay - Synopsis - Records
Hello fearsome Mechwarrior Welcome to my latest build for the outlandish TBT-7K as Aggressive AC/20 Striker. The TBT-7K was originally designed as a direct Firesupporter in contrast to the classic Missile.Boat Design of the Trebuchet. With 2x Energy-, 2x Ballistic- and 2x Missile.Hardpoints you can build the TBT-7K with versatile Weaponloadouts. When it was introduced to MWO, the general opinion about the TBT-7K was like "worst Variant of all Trebs". The Reasons could be 1. the awkward positioning & very limited tube.size of the Missile.Bays in the right Arm, making them almost a waste, 2. the Lack of any other Weapon.Hardpoints in the Arms, limiting to have bad/no Aiming from the Arms, 3. the inferior survivability in Brawls due to large Sidetorsos compared to other ballistic-energy-missile Hybrid-Mediums such like the Centurion (with similar Weaponhardpoints, but better positionings). I am not going to discuss here, whether the TBT-7K is a good Mech or not compared to other Mediums. My ambition is rather to make the best out of the TBT-7K. And personally i can tell you, that i love the TBT-7K for having the Ballistic.Hardpoints in the Torso for being able to load any Ballistic Cannon you want! With this build i want to show you, that the TBT-7K can be built+played as Aggressive Striker very effectively. Especially because the TBT-7K is more fragile compared to the Centurion, i wanted to make him as aggressive as possible to play him more like a Striker than a Brawler, with Hit & Run-Tactics. It is very possible with this concept & in my opinion one of the strongest direct Firesupport builds for this controversially discussed Variant. From my game experience i can tell you, that you will make high Kill-Scores!.
Pros:

Strong Direct Close Range Firepower (Alphastrike)
Pinpoint-Damage
Excellent Cooling
Decent Speed @93kph
Plenty of Ammo for Sustained Battles
Use of the very common STD260 Engine
All Weapons in Torso, so no lost of Firepower if losing Arms
Simply Brutal
Cons:

All Weapons are limited to 270m optimal Range
It's not cheap (with AC20, DHS, Endo & FF)
No use of the Missile.Hardpoints

Loading the AC/20 combined with two Medium Lasers is the only option i see to have a Pinpoint-Alphastrike-Damage of 30 Points, while keeping the Moving Speed and Cool Efficiency high enough to play the Striker Role. A similar Alphablast without downgrading the Engine would be: (LBX)AC10 + 2x Medium Lasers + 2x (S)SRM2s, but then losing the Pinpoint.Damage. The great thing about this weaponloadout is, that no one expects such a high Alphastrike from a Trebuchet! So in most Mob-Fights you can rush in front or rear of distracted Heavies/Assaults and just give some very hard Face-Punches before rushing away to the next victim. If you are lucky, your opponent has peeled-off Armor already and so you can play the brutal Terminator. I wouldn't say, that this Variant is better or equal strong compared to a Triple-SRM6-Centurion, but i dare to say, that you can finish off Enemies at similar speed. If you are familiar with playing Strikers, you could skip this section and try out the build directly. All other dudes, who are playing this role for first time or having problem to play properly should take a look at least. Weapon Grouping 1. AC/20 (Close Range) 2. MLas (Combined/Defense) 3. Alphastrike (Main Attack) Gameplay is like following: You stay in the second/mid line of your Mob supporting the first line Mechs against incoming enemies & whenever the Mob-Fight starts, your mission is to take out distracted & wounded enemies with Pinpoint.Alphastrikes. Aim good and use the AC/20 sparingly - you don't want to go empty too early with lots of miss-shots and fight with two Mediumlasers against a Bunch of Mass Murderers. Your Role: Terminator/Direct FiresupportIn the Early Game Phase you should tell your mates, that you have an AC/20 in your Treb. This can motivate your Mates very much! Tell them, which Assaults/Heavies you want to follow and that you support Engagements from the second line. This encourage them to engage more aggressively. Your team won't win, if they just hide behind covers waiting for the enemy to strike first. You know/remember the following adage? The first enemies you will encounter are scouting Lights. Some of them will try to TAG your Team for their own LRM.Boats. If you see them, DON'T fire your AC/20 at them, unless you are a very skilled Shooter! They are fast enough to avoid your Shots. Simply scare them away with your Lasers. You will get your chance later to take them out, when all the bigger Foes are dead. I don't have to tell you, that you should NOT hunt the Lights, whenever they try to provoke you in close encounters in the Early Game Phase. They could lead you into a trap! Primarly spot the more dangerous & slow Heavy/Assault Enemies. In the Mid Game Phase when both Mobs are clashing against each other, you aim for the slower Heavies/Assaults, firing from behind of your bigger Mates. Keep an eye on the Armor of your Targets. Whenever some Bodyparts are colored Yellow-Orange or even Red - this is your chance to go full in and strike with Skillshots at those weakened parts! Hehehe, but from experience i know, that you rather would simply Alphastrike at any Torsopart in the rush. But that's ok, Pinpoint.Damage of 30 is strong enough to kill most opponents with two or max.three Blows even if hitting at full armored parts. Whenever you engage, always watch the surrounding and the minimap. You don't want any Enemy.Mech surprise you from the behind and you don't want any distant Mech snipe you down. A good trick is to always stay in motion - 93kph is fast enough to make it difficult for enemies to hit you. Another trick is to alphastrike one Enemy and rush for the next one, blast again in his face, and then rush back to the previous one or again another one. If you are smart enough to sneak away by getting behind cover or simply back behind your bigger Mates, your victims are most times disrupted by the heavy Screen-Shake from your AC/20-Bullet and can't realize fast enough, that you shot them! While engaging it is a must to keep your Movement at max.Speed + Torsotwisting for spreading incoming damage to keep the damage at your big Sidetorsos as low as possible. If everything goes properly in teamfights, you should be able to take out several fools within seconds or even in chain! In the End Game Phase usually the Lights are the only left survivors. Since you are very speedy, you can try to hunt them down with the rest of your AC/20 Bullets. I recommend you to save the bullets, until you get a real good chance to make a Full-Hit. This is mostly when they try to change the direction and so slowing down. Most Lights would instantly die from a 30 Alphastrike.Damage. Another option would be to simply "leg" them first with your Lasers at Range above 180m.
Your Role: Terminator/Direct Firesupport Gameplay: Aggressive Attacks from second line, waiting for opportunities to engage with Pinpoint.Alphastrikes, especially against distracted/wounded Enemies Staying in Motion constantly in Engagements Using your speed + Torso-Twisting to avoid damage at your big Sidetorsos Other Matters: communicate with your mates to encourage them at Engagements stick to your mates to have yourself protected against Counterstrikes
It is an option to run AMS as i listed above, but at 93kph i would recommend to drop it for more Ammo, Speed or Armor - you will need it more for sustained 12v12 battles! Ok, now get your TBT-7K ready and slaughter some foes. For any questions or feedback simply post me here.
some recent games with the original "terminator" versionAs you can see the average score is round about respectful 3-5 Kills at 500+ Damage each match (with chances to go higher with the "awesome-ammo" version). Most times you will kill Enemies with some few Strikes leading to relative low Damage-Scores. The only chance to have higher Damage-Scores is to use your MLasers more often before finishing off enemies. If you use your AC/20.Ammo sparingly, you would rarely run out of Ammo. i like this one...I run my 60kph Orion with ac20 and 2LLas although it's a lot slower I should try this too
I drop components in this thing like they were bad habits. This shreds. Here's my first drop: 5 stars.
