I've been going through Trebuchets lately and I love them, which is honestly a surprise to me. I thought they would be lackluster, but they're quickly becoming my favorite mechs, comparable to my beloved Locust 3M. They're not the best mechs for everyone, but they work for me. At least the 7K and 7M do. The other one I used, the 7J just had too much in one weak arm.

So why do I like them so much?

Well, they actually seem to have better survivability than the Wolverines and Shadowhawks I've used. The shield arms really are shields. There are few games where I die that I don't lose at least one arm. In my 7K I have all torso weapons and smile when I lose an arm. The center torso is hard to hit, though not quite as hard as the Centurian's. I put a std300 in my 7M and brawl with it. Forget the LRM's. I want my SRM4's with a 20% cooldown. Plus, if I lose an arm I haven't lost the majority of my firepower unlike the Cent.

    Anyone else love the Treb?

Yep. 7M as a LRM boat, LdG with SRM24 @ 106.9 kph. Lovely despite their size.

Some mechs just feel fast and this one does.

I haven't taken mine out recently but the Trebs are a lot of fun. I think part of it though is lack of support for 300 engine in the other 50 tonners. The 300 engine is the best balanced engine in terms of free weight and speed in any weight class except light IMHO.

Unfortunately, I don't really have much money so I can't get the LdG:(, but the 7M works fine for me as an SRM mech. I actually enjoy piloting it so much that I tend to be a little reckless.

I agree. This is especially true with std engines. I've never actually put any std engine above 300 in any of my mechs, though when I get around to leveling the Banshee's other than the 3E I'll buy some.

On the subject of other 50 tonners, the only 50 tonner I've owned is the Treb, I'm curious how their not supported?

Centurions can only go 275 (except for YLW and maybe D, can't remember off the top of my head) and I don't remember what the biggest engine Hunchies can use is. Can't get to Smurfy at the moment.

All I know is between 325+ engine rating and several JJ variants, the Treb is much more mobile than Centurions or Hunchies, and its the only one of those three that I feel isn't trying to be a heavy.

Just looked it up. Yes, Hunchies can all only use up to 275 and the same goes for the Centurians except the D and the YLW. But neither has jump jets.

I did think about buying the 3C, but it doesn't have jj's and it's hard to pack a good weapons load and a big engine in.

I love my treb-3C quite a bit actually! I'm currently running a 3Mlas 2srm6+a with an XL350. It is an absoulute blast, the speedy thing runs at 124 kph speed tweaked and works out really well as a hit and run mech. I have no trouble doing 500+ damage in this guy consistently.
